Rotten and mouldy shed floor - can it be repaired?

Thank you both for your comments. I've attached photos of the outside of the shed - it's in generally good condition (the second photo is the outside of the corner that is rotting). Sounds like contacting some handymen will be the way to go as I don't have the tools or the time to take the shed...

Rotten and mouldy shed floor - can it be repaired?

Thanks very much for your response. I'll take more photos tomorrow (Tues) and post them on here then. I was afraid that someone would say about completely dismantling and re-doing the floor. Feels like it might be out of my powers to do all that, both skills and tools-wise! Who would I contact...

Rotten and mouldy shed floor - can it be repaired?

Hi everyone, I moved into my house last year, and only realised a few weeks ago when I started sorting the shed and back garden out, that the previous owners had allowed part of the shed floor to rot and become covered in white mould, and had just hidden it under an MDF panel! I have attached a...

Fixing a draughty bathroom extractor fan vent

Cool, thanks - I'll do a google search now. I took the front of that vent off and there's a big hole so I wouldn't be surprised if this is the cause of the draught - see the image below. I can't follow the pipe as it goes under the floorboards, but your idea about spraying an air freshener is...

Fixing a draughty bathroom extractor fan vent

Thanks so much for your reply, and apologies for my slow response. I'll take another look at the outlet tomorrow and take a closer photo. From memory I don't believe a flap is fitted though. Would I need to replace the whole thing? If so, do you have any links to an example of what I'd have to...

Fixing a draughty bathroom extractor fan vent

Hi all, I've recently been on a mission to fix all draughts in my house, and I noticed that a lot of cold air comes through the downstairs toilet extractor fan vent, especially on a windy day. The toilet is under the stairs, and the vent itself goes into a pipe the other side of the wall which...

Cold temperatures in 15 year old cavity wall extension!

Funnily enough the thermostat is in the lounge extension! It's a Hive system that was installed by the previous owner. Given the room gets down to 13 degrees, I set the thermostat to 19 degrees as it wouldn't reach anything higher by the time it goes off.

Cold temperatures in 15 year old cavity wall extension!

Did anyone have any thoughts about the gaps above and below the outside of the windows in the photos I linked to? Adding them to this message for reference. Could they cause draughts that go through the walls somehow? What would be the best thing to fill the larger holes with? Expanding foam?

Cold temperatures in 15 year old cavity wall extension!

To be honest, what you've said is unfortunately the conclusion I've been slowly coming to given there seem to be no obvious issues with insulation, etc. However, is 13.5 degrees at around 8am really not that unusual in a 15 year old extension in October (with no heating on)? I think my main...

Cold temperatures in 15 year old cavity wall extension!

I don't know the exact dimensions of everything, but the radiators are definitely large enough for the space, and they're both double panel and single convector. In terms of your definition of "hot", I would say they are "warm" all over, but I don't think any different to the rest of the...

Cold temperatures in 15 year old cavity wall extension!

Yep the heating is definitely sufficient for the space. It definitely heats up quite quickly, but I still need to check if it retains the heat well or not. I did think about this myself to be honest, regarding the cost of the work vs just having the heating on earlier in the year and potentially...

Cold temperatures in 15 year old cavity wall extension!

The loft itself is one big space split into two by rafters - the insulation in the older part of the house is 100mm, and it is 200mm in the extension. The extension has boarding down and the main house has boarding on top of about half of the insulation. I had someone come and quote me yesterday...

Cold temperatures in 15 year old cavity wall extension!

Apologies that completely slipped my mind! There are two large radiators in the lounge extension so when the heating is on, it should be sufficient to warm the room up. Should I be checking how quickly the temperature drops after the heating goes off? Whole house is heated by a Worcester...

Cold temperatures in 15 year old cavity wall extension!

So sorry about the slow response to this thread. Have a two month old baby and am currently on paternity leave with family here, so things are a little hectic! I'll respond to each reply individually. Really appreciate the responses so far.

Cold temperatures in 15 year old cavity wall extension!

Hi all, We moved into our house earlier this year in March, and at the time we obviously had the heating on. However, at times when the heating wasn't on, I noticed that our two storey extension (one large lounge, one hallway with skylight and stairs, and one bedroom) was absolutely freezing...
