Hi,
Structural engineer has specified a giant 356 x 368 x 129 UC to support existing back wall for an open plan kitchen / dining room. Also has specified stiffeners at 600mm centres, with bolts at 300mm centres to secure timber into the web.
The problem is that the gap to fill with Timber is...
So if anyone cares.. it's fixed now
The key to resolving this problem was that the flow and return got hot within a few minutes of each other. This was despite all the radiators in the house having a cold return pipe.
So despite being an amateur plumber, I started taking up the chipboard...
Thanks for the honest answers.
This rad is in the extension, I can see two 15mm pipes coming out of the ceiling into the house and into the extension. So without taking the whole house apart I can't be sure, but it looks like its piped up correctly.
So to be clear, its normal for the flow...
It does get lukewarm when all the other radiators are off... but then goes stone cold when they start to be switched back on. Its a fairly large house with 15 radiators of different sizes..
The puzzling thing is that with only this one radiator on, the flow and return pipes are both very hot...
Hi .
Thanks for your responses so far..
I have made some limited progress in the cold radiator issue. I flushed the system out and put mains pressure through both pipes. Doing this allowed the radiator to get luke warm, with the inlet getting very hot but the outlet is still cold (and...
Got my units wrong! It's 6500 btu, so about 2kw. The other rad is about 1 kW.
If we leave the pump alone, is there most likely to be flow at a remote radiator with a high or low pressure in the system?
Hi
Got a problem with a newly installed radiator.
The radiator is at the end of 14 metres of 15mm Plasic Pipe (its 22m plastic for the first 8m). We put a new radiator in by t'ing off an existing radiator pipe buried in the wall.
The radiator is quite large (5kw), the existing one is about...
Thanks for your reply.
I've read that page, but wanted to know if you have any crude ways of measuring the temperature. If its not possible to do it cheaply, any links to the appropriate temperature measuring equipment would be appreciated..
Thanks.
Hello,
We have had a problem double radiator ever since we moved in the house. The inlet pipe is always hot (too hot to touch for long) and the outlet pipe is always cold. The top of the radiator is slightly warm, the bottom generally stone cold. It is probably the furthest away radiator...
