Thank you for the replies. Welsh Water are coming to check the main where the water comes into the house - so that's a start. As for what the tune is - I wish I could think of something funny - but it's closer to Vera Lynn than Springsteen.

It may be coincidental but after extremely heavy rain on Monday our pipes started to sing - continually. The only way to stop this is to turn the water off at the main. This stops the noise in the centre of the house i.e. the downstairs shower room, but not at the main lever which keeps giving...
