    Help...door lock stuck

Thanks for the reply. In the end, out of desperation I took the plunge and stripped it right down. A part off the mechanism inside had broke. I've managed to get it back together and I can now at least shut the door. But thanks.

    Help...door lock stuck

So our double glazed door with 5 lever side locking bar was stuck and for some reason we couldn't lock it. I've stripped it down and graphite lubed the actual locking mechanism and it was working fine. SO next comes the dumb part, I was opening and closing it to make sure and I think I went too...

Acrylic shelf and LED lighting ideas?

Thanks guys. The only problem I see is that I need the extrusions to act as supports as well as channels for the LED strip. Those I can find seem to be just channels for the LED. So you may be right endecopt. It's frustrating as there are loads of images out there of exactly what I want, but...

Acrylic shelf and LED lighting ideas?

Hi. Not sure if this is the best home for this thread as it's a mix of lighting and construction. Anyhow, I'm renovating our living room and have stripped the walls back to the stone walls so I can add insulation etc. We have a natural alcove where I want to build in some bespoke shelving and...

    barn conversion roof advice

No that's just it, the walls are in good shape. No bowing or cracks and the lime mortar is solid. The only issue is that the current beams sit on small timber plates which in turn sit on the top face of the granite walls - which need levelling a bit and are full of loose old lime mortar.

    barn conversion roof advice

Hi all. OK, this is a very early stage of fact finding really. We have a small Steading (barn) here in Scotland and we're thinking of converting it to a two bed property. The plan is to get the whole roof replaced professionally as a lot of the existing beams are rotten. Also, as you can see...

New shower trap not draining well.

Thanks Jackrae. I can gain access, but it won't be easy. Rather than pulling up the newly laid tiles I'll have to approach it from the room next door which is only about 2 feet away from the trap. Though the clearance under the floor boards will be around 18" and under a beam! But it's do-able...

New shower trap not draining well.

Yep, I guess that's it. Bloody stupid design. I expected better from McAlpine. It's supposed to shift 26ltr per minute. Lucky if I get 1 Thanks for your advice.

New shower trap not draining well.

Ok, so with a bit more experimenting I'm left even more puzzled. So I unscrew and remove the mushroom cap and then replace the tube and seal so the water is not restricted by the cap to see what happens. So the water drains down directly into the trap but still fills up the tray and so the tube...

New shower trap not draining well.

Yep, there is a tube on the cap which sits inside the water in the trap. The gap around the cap that water can flow is only around 10mm or so. So add soap to the water and I can see how drainage isn't going to be speedy as you say Doggit. Annoying and silly design in hindsight. Especially...

New shower trap not draining well.

Just got in an hour ago...busy day! I really will post up some pics tomorrow, but I don't think the cap is purely cosmetic. It sits inside the removable bowl with the water in which creates the 'trap', it also has a rubber seal around it.

New shower trap not draining well.

Thanks guys, I'll try that tomorrow. I'll also post the pick up too. So can I ask what the difference is between an aav and anti cyphon which I already have on the sink?

New shower trap not draining well.

I must say that when I take a shower, it's not too bad. But when the girls are in there it's lather city and it was my thinking that this was the cause. I just didn't expect it to be such an issue as people have been known to use a lot of suds before, particularly the female variety. The...

New shower trap not draining well.

I know this seems to be a well trodden problem, but I can't make sense of why it's happening, or what solution there is for my situation. I've just finished a complete refit in our bathroom and installed a standard P trap for the bath, an anti siphon bottle trap on the sink and the Mcalpine...
