    Hi.

Not sure if this is the best home for this thread as it's a mix of lighting and construction.

Anyhow, I'm renovating our living room and have stripped the walls back to the stone walls so I can add insulation etc. We have a natural alcove where I want to build in some bespoke shelving and having seen some snazzy acrylic or perspex shelving incorporating LED backlighting through it I fancied having a go and doing a decent job now that I can build it in from scratch as I build in the stud work and plaster etc.

Unfortunately Google not being what it was for searching without finding adverts I'm having difficulty tracking down a basic 'how to. I'm really looking at some kind of slot bracket that I can bury in the wall to support the perspex and include a channel for the led strip.

Has anyone any experience with this kind of thing? Or can point me in the right direction for the kind of support brackets I need?

    Thanks.

It sounds like you want to light up a perspex shelf so that the front edge glows like neon?

If so, for even lighting, look at some LED strip light aluminium channel which can be set flush into plaster. You can adapt this around standard glass/plastic shelf brackets.

May be easier to find if you search for shop fittings suppliers?

Thanks guys. The only problem I see is that I need the extrusions to act as supports as well as channels for the LED strip. Those I can find seem to be just channels for the LED. So you may be right endecopt.

It's frustrating as there are loads of images out there of exactly what I want, but very few instructions from other self builders. I guess it's not rocket science, but it would save time if I could find a few tips out there!
