is it normal / appropriate to fix chipboard floors with nails.
not sure if they are shanked.
seems to be a lot of creaking in a house a friend of mine is currently looking to buy ( new home) 22mm thickness
i kind of thought it was a no no.

could it be an underground leakig pipe- central heating.
dehumidyfiers are good- leave off blow heaters though- don,t necessarily accelerate drying.a good breeze running through the area during daytime is good and inexpensive.
draw a chalk line around wet patch- after 24 hrs and periods...
it seems to me you are wasting your time doing anything remotely manual.
