I live in a flat with 6 radiators, 4 of which have a temperature selection control (1-5) on them. The one in my living room is noisy on levels 4 and 5, very noisy on 4 but less so on 5. The noise is some sort of rushing noise which I presume is water flowing through the valves.

I normally have the TRV set to 5, maximum, and the noise is audible. When I reduce to around 3/4 the noise increases, while going under 3 seems to turn the unit off since the noise disappears. Although when the unit comes back on the noise returns.
There doesnt appear to be any arrows on either of the two chrome areas, but the end with the 3 warms up first.
The boiler is a Potterton Promax Combi HE Plus
