Yes it will have dried out now, that was your problem even a minute spot of water will cause that on the pcb

Did you cover the PCB housing with a towel or such before removing, the cartridge ?

I have had exactly that fault and it was a tooth on the synchron motor that was sheared off, either that or the synchron motor is not fitted properly and is jumping the gear mechanism

a 3 way valve as you call it can not stop all water circulation

No you dont , you have a Main HE A , they are not the same boiler

just isolate the earth wire it isnt needed

old ventillation if boiler is now room sealed just cover them up

Make sure you leave a drain point open while re-pressurising or no point in doing anything

the problem will be with the zone valve(s)
