Tradesman has cracked a roof tile around skylight

Thanks for your replies everyone. The screw head in question (it has no thread or body) pinged off the gutter where the bracket was out of view at the top of houses’ main roof (which is why the guy was up there repairing it in the first place!) Just out of interest chaps, why do you think the...

Tradesman has cracked a roof tile around skylight

Hi all, Just had a chap who’s repaired some guttering above our kitchen extension which has a Velux skylight window in. He’s obviously stepped on a weak part on that corner. I’m terrified now in case we start to get a leak. Do any professional roofers think the likelihood of a leak forming if...

Has my plumber maybe messed up? New Rad install...

He did in the end, he must've had a brain freeze moment before he was about the drain the whole system again!

Has my plumber maybe messed up? New Rad install...

Thanks all, problem fixed. It was the smallest issue of the other side of the pipe (out pipe, excuse my lack of knowledge) needed the Alan key twisting so the flow could exit. How annoying!!!

Has my plumber maybe messed up? New Rad install...

Thanks for your reply :) Plumber is back and said he's done all that and certain the valves are on the right way (and he said the valves we both flow-ways compatible anyway). Is it a possibility that the boiler isn't powerful enough to heat the tall radiator on the ground floor, with the boiler...

Has my plumber maybe messed up? New Rad install...

Hey all, Ok so we have a Vokera Compact A 25kw boiler and 5 radiators (plus two towel rails) in the 3 bed house we’ve bought. We wanted to change one of the downstairs rads to be one of these designer tall radiators. Plumber has installed it and then when we’ve turned the heating on, all...

    Re-appearing movement crack in wall

Hi All, I've had a long-standing battle with a particular crack on an internal wall that keeps shifting. No matter how I fill, sometimes the cracks opens and sometimes it moves the other way and 'pushes' the filler out the crack upwards a little to create a raised crack. The wall has been...

    Replacing a fused switch socket

Hi all, I want to replace the light switch which is solely used for the outside flood/security light. Bought a fused switch which is marked as 13 amp. However, checked the fuse inside the current white socket which turns out to be 3 amp. Do I have to buy a specific 3 amp fuse socket or can I...

Plug socket connected directly to RCD?

It sticks out far from the wall, can get a slim one now and it’s got paint from previous owners around the edge of it. Also, not sinking it but least I can replace It with a metal face plate to match the rest of the house.

Plug socket connected directly to RCD?

Thanks for everyone being so observant. Just to clarify, I am safe to install a normal socket now right? Get rid of this ugly one!

Plug socket connected directly to RCD?

Great stuff, normal socket it is. Have no issue swapping over but just wanted to check it’s safe with this new setup. Thanks for all your help!
