    Repairing a dado rail

Evening all, We're on the move and I thought I would be nice to the new occupants and repair the dado rail where I have cut out sections to hang a wall mounted unit. I stupidly threw out the cut out section and I'm trying to match the existing dado rail. Does anyone know what this...

    Skirting Boards and stairs

Quite possibly, but my plastering skills are somewhat lacking for the size of walls... :? The walls were pretty aweful anyway and they look tons better for the new plasterboard. Managed to get away with just skimming the joints. :D Probably not the best way of doing it but it seems...

Thanks Clappers :) I couldn't think of any other way of doing it. Would you have done it any other way?

    Skirting Boards and stairs

Hi all, I hope someone can offer some advice. Last weekend my wife decided we have put of the inevitable for long enough and so I started decorating our hall, stairway and landing. I dutifully started stripping the wallpaper, lining paper and old dado rail from the walls only to find it...

Am I being led up the garden path???

Thanks for the feedback. Yep the brown cables are co-ax for the TV, nothing to worry about there (I hope). Haven't really looked at what type of cables those are going into the taped joins, not really that keen to untape them either and find out. Might try and take a closer look this evening.

    Lifting T&G floorboards

Thanks for the advice... i think lifting the boards should be the easy part! Its the relocating the rad and rerouting the pipes that worries me the most... never done it before. Anyone got any advice on that, although I will post in the plumbing section :?

    Lifting T&G floorboards

OK.. I have the circular saw and I can see the depth of the boards where I have lifted the carpet in the hallway.. I'm thinking the new T&G boards are on top of old boards... I'll soon find out. How do I go about getting round the gap that the thickness of the blade will create when I put the...

    Lifting T&G floorboards

Am I being led up the garden path???

Cheers guys for your thoughts, just a few questions / clarifications... What are these? What are the benefits and why should these been in place as opposed to what is there already? Are these the two cables that are leading from the board to the CU? Should they match the other red...

Am I being led up the garden path???

Thanks securespark. I've got picture here, what do u think? Its not a priority at the moment, but would be something I would like to get changed, of course it will become a priority if u think it needs some attention. Cheers, and thanks again.

Am I being led up the garden path???

He gave no indication on how much it would cost to replace the CU. If I remember rightly, he said that because of the building work we had done (kitchen extension, basic loft conversion and a bathrrom converted to a bedroom and bathroom, it was a rather large bathroom previously) the CU was no...

Am I being led up the garden path???

Thanks for the advice. So u think the fact he starting checking downlighters in the dining room is a bit odd? He wouldn't even give a quote to do the work we wanted doing and just said that the CU needed to be changed before he would do it. All sounded a bit odd to me. Thanks again

Am I being led up the garden path???

we asked the guy to wire in a timer for some undertile heating (now done thanks to this forum's help) but before he looked at it he wanted to inspect some downlighters in the dining room first. This didn't seem right to me but we let him look. He said the connectors needed to be changed. Fair...
