    Mist coat strength question

Evening chaps Thanks for the replies again. Ive actually now scraped all the walls back to clean plaster. I'm going to very lightly sand to remove the rest of paint on the walls, then get it wiped, hoovered, etc to remove all dust. I will then try the plaster paint in patches that I know...

    Mist coat strength question

:D I don't normally put gaffer tape on it. Just a bit worried that as the tape is pulling it off easily, does that mean that the adhesion is poor and that it will peel in the future?

Cheers, the skirts have been screwed . What are your suggestions for the mist coat that flakes easily when gaffer tape is placed on it? Regards Jack

    Mist coat strength question

Hi ken It was shiny, I could look down it and see reflections, it felt very smooth. But to be fair it's the first time I've ever had a room plastered, so have nothing to compare it to. I realise gaffer tape is strong and is more likely than masking tape to pull it off, but the paint is...

    Switch live at switch

Hiya I'm sure this had been answered before but cannot find it. I'm fitting a new light switch, but both wires are red. I cannot remember which was the live and which was switch live (and no indication which is which) . Is there a way of testing with a multimeter? Cheers in advance Martin

Loose block behind sand cement render

Stewart I took a stud wall down that joined onto it, initially I think I did hit slightly too hard, but some are loose where I didn't use the hammer, just a scraper. I've knocked it off now to a point where the surrounding block seems fairly secure and the cement render seems well adhered to...

Loose block behind sand cement render

Hiya I've started removing blown plaster from the wall in the bedroom, it was very thick about 1inch, so think the wall may have been rendered prior to skimming. Problem I have is the thermolite blocks are all loose when I knock off the plaster, area is about 6ft by 6ft What would be the best...

Hi chaps! Just a quick one. Yesterday the main circuit fuse tripped, now the clothes don't come out dry at the end of the srying cycle. The washer dryer complete the drying cycle, but the clothes are not hot and are still very damp. I've checked the waste pump and thats fine, so i...
