Constant burning after Vailant PCB change

British gas were out due to error codes on Vailant Ecotec Plus 618 yesterday. The PCB was changed and it was back burning again. The issue now seems to be that it hasn't stopped burning even though there is no call for water or heating. It looks like the temperature is going above the...

    New rubber flat roof query

Hi all, We had a porch flat roof replaced with rubber yesterday and wanted to fetch opinions. I've never actually seen an EPDM roof layed before, and bearing in mind this was directly onto the concrete roof as advised. I've attached some pictures as I noticed pooling today. Also note the...

    Flat roof water ingress

I can't vouch for how long the flat roof has been on, I'm guessing over 11 years. There is nothing directing it into the gutter as such. I believe it is solid walls in that part of the porch. Would the sensible thing to do be to have a new flat roof installed with decent drip edges (given the...

    Flat roof water ingress

As you can see, the drip edge isn't majorly effective. A lot is going into the guttering but there's obviously an amount that is meeting the wall.. There are also small gaps in the pointing, could this be the entry point? If so then both issues may be working in tandem!

    Flat roof water ingress

Hi All, We have a flat roof over the porch, and there has been some water getting in over the past few weeks. It is a 50s concrete flat roof, and although you cant see from the pictures there is a drip groove which does filter a lot into the guttering. There is still a fair bit still working...

2 Port Valve / Pump Question

The flow is down towards the radiators, so think this is correct. After a bit of listening, this is the series of events: 1) call for heat stops 2) 2 way valve shuts 3) overrun begins 4) pumps seems to speed up quite a bit and this is where is sounds like the back pressure is created. Even...

2 Port Valve / Pump Question

Thanks for the replies. The pump and bypass valve were changed around a year ago, but these noises were not apparent then. I reduced the boiler thermostat recently a little, but before that it was excessive (70deg). The pump is directly above the valve you can see there, I'll attach another...

2 Port Valve / Pump Question

Hi Guys, Hopefully someone can enlighten me here.. For the last month or so there has been an a horrible gargling / bubbling noise coming from the airing cupboard. I have isolated this now to be only when the boiler stops calling for heat. What seems to be happening is that the boiler stops...

I wasn't dismissing your input Dan :) Someone is coming round this week to take a look.

    CH not reaching desired temperature

It is a 2 bed semi-detatched house. Walls are currently not insulated, and the loft does have (old by the look of it) insulation. There will be times where you can't leave your hand on for more than a few seconds, although not often. More often than not you can leave your hand on it without it...

    CH not reaching desired temperature

Make Model is: Glow-Worm Flexicom 15hx. Fitted towards the end of September. The boiler temperature is set to 65 degrees. Central heating pump set to notch 2. It seems to go in cycles, one minute the rads will be quite hot, then it will cool a bit for a while, then heat up again...

    CH not reaching desired temperature

Do the symptoms sound indicative of somebody messing with the valve? If so then it'll teach me. Is this something which should be relatively easy to iron out?

    CH not reaching desired temperature

Thanks Dan, Yes we've inherited a beaut there. I tried tightening both individually, but didn't seem to have any impact on the boiler powering down. It seems to fire up, reach 'desired temperature' within 5 minutes or so, then power down until the temp falls to about 49, then starts the cycle...
