Illuminated Mirror and Separate Shaver Socket Installation.

"Rules are made for the guidance of wise men and for blind obedience by fools" I'm very much a spirit of the rules rather than letter of the rules kind of guy. I have hooked the mirror up to the existing supply and will get sparky in to fit and run cable to shaver socket from loft above...

Illuminated Mirror and Separate Shaver Socket Installation.

Lectrician; having pinpointed where the studs and noggins are I think that is the way to go. Flameport; your probably right that it won't save anything to run the cable myself and I probably will get the sparky to do it. However, I do think your a little overzealous in your application of part p.

Illuminated Mirror and Separate Shaver Socket Installation.

Plugwash, thanks for the constructive post. Total load on circuit is fine, I only have a small house and is has two lighting circuits so only 5 points including mirror (approx 750 watts worst case). Junction box would be accessible if mirror removed but have decided to mount mirror...

Illuminated Mirror and Separate Shaver Socket Installation.

I'm pretty sure that I'm allowed to do the first fix myself, afterall its just drilling holes in studs and passing cables through. Where i'd like help is ensuring I run cables in places that he is happy with. vibrobullit407, we looked everywhere for a nice mirror with an intigrated shaver...

Illuminated Mirror and Separate Shaver Socket Installation.

Hi, I am replacing the disgusting 2 in 1 shaver socket/light fitting the developers fitted in my newly built home (built April 2011) with a heated/illuminated mirror and separate shaver socket. Obviously, since this goes beyond a like for like swap and will introduce new cabling in a bathroom, I...

    Additional Garage Lighting

Thank you for the replies, I will add an additional mounting box to take the extra switch. Yes the light will be on the outside of the building but the cable will come from within and thus not be exposed. I think I will go with the ADs interpretation of the regs as it suits me better, part...

    Extract Fan Through Skylight

Well in the end I did it. I had a frosted double glased unit made with a hole for the extract fan (yes it was still sealed) and mounted this flush with the celing. I then ducted the extraced air through the void and out of one of the flaps. Seems to all work perfectly, the bathroom is toasty and...

    Additional Garage Lighting

I have just moved into a newly built house with a separate garage to which I want to add an external security light. The garage has one double socket with a single light switch taken off as a fused spur. I do not know at the moment if the supply into the garage is a spur off another circuit or...

Boosting Hot Water Pressure in New Home with Gravity Fed Sys

Thanks for the advice. The header tank in the loft which pressurises the hot cylinder would end up approx 4m above the kitchen tap giving 0.4bar. I think the tap requires 0.5bar min but it may be 1bar. Has anyone any experience of the Grundfos UPA 15 90 in a modest application like this...

Boosting Hot Water Pressure in New Home with Gravity Fed Sys

I am a couple of weeks away from moving into a new build house, on a recent visit to the property I was horrified to see that the developers had installed a gravity fed hot water system rather than a combi boiler. In fairness to them, they didn’t say it would be combi, I just assumed everything...

    Extract Fan Through Skylight

Replacing the whole skylight is a bit beyond my budget, access to the roof is restricted (through a window in the flat above me), and i do worry about disturbing the flat roof and causing a leak, i'd much rather just find the right extract fan solution. I see ventaxia do a range of extract...

    Extract Fan Through Skylight

I assume the glass can be made with a silver foam disk inside that the fan is then mounted into in much the same way as a cat flap. If need be i will put in a single sheet of glass but the thrust of my question was less about the glass and more about venting into the void, is it a good idea...

    Extract Fan Through Skylight

I have a ground floor flat c1901 the bathroom of which is a more recent extension (1980s?). The bathroom is surrounded on all sides by other flats and my own and as such has a skylight rather than a window. The skylight is raised above roof level and has aluminium ventilation flaps on all...
