Lightswitch for indoor light sometimes triggers outdoor PIR sensor light

Just had a look properly and took the base off the light itself, it's a 2D 16W 2pin lamp bulb which I believe is quite commonly CFL, but there do seem to be LED variants, will have a look around at suppliers. Edit: Potentially...

Lightswitch for indoor light sometimes triggers outdoor PIR sensor light

Thanks, that's relatively a cheap experiment to try and also potentially better anyway generally, given LED are meant to be more energy efficient? No harm either way I guess!

Lightswitch for indoor light sometimes triggers outdoor PIR sensor light

It's an interesting point, although the position of the outdoor light and it's field of view should in theory not be effected by any change in light level from that area. The downstairs toilet and the window is behind the field of view of the sensor. Looks like this from a floor plan, the red...

Lightswitch for indoor light sometimes triggers outdoor PIR sensor light

I haven't confirmed as never removed the light casing, but it's likely it's a CFL blub as it briefly flickers when first switching on before being illuminated fully, that would suggest it's a fluorescent blub isn't it?

Lightswitch for indoor light sometimes triggers outdoor PIR sensor light

I've noticed that a simple one way switch for my downstairs toilet light, seems to be able to trigger my Outdoor PIR light to turn on. This is what I could determine: The downstairs toilet light and the outdoor light are on the same circuit, looking at my consumer unit marked "Downstairs...

Two red wires in one way switch L1 terminal

Thanks for you reply! Sorry yes, it's a two way switch being used as a one way, with nothing in L2 basically. So was the original that was replaced. The house it was installed was built in the 1960's so it's quite possible it was used for something else but good to know it's OK! Thank you.

Two red wires in one way switch L1 terminal

I've just recently replaced the face plate on a one way switch for an outdoor light which was inverted as the front plate was the wrong way around i.e. off position = on and on position = off. I ended up accidentally breaking the switch mechanism so it not longer clicked so I ended up just...

    USB plug socket plates retrofit

I was looking at some MK sockets, looks like a good brand with solid reviews, Screwfix says 25mm but as you've mentioned some reviews say 25mm backbox is a tight fit so 35mm would be fine by the sounds of it. Is that HF noise a form of what I know to be coil whine? I'm aware of this with...

    USB plug socket plates retrofit

Thanks, I've just measured the backbox of one of the 2 gang sockets I'd be looking to replace and it's 35mm, but I've seen a few threads saying to ignore screwfix and check the depth to confirm, which I'll double check!

    USB plug socket plates retrofit

Thank you, good information there. Based on reading that thread the other considerations are the backbox depth (which I'll double check) and USB spec, fast charging is a good point, the past few Samsung phones I've had all have fast charging, but not necessarily a deal breaker on a USB socket...

    USB plug socket plates retrofit

Thank you, you can tell I'm not an electrician I will make sure to look for earth, thank you for confirming it should be possible!

    USB plug socket plates retrofit

Hi, Sorry if this is a really basic question, but not an electrician and not looking to blow my house or myself up. I have some existing 2 gang wall sockets I was looking at replacing a few in sensible areas with 2 gang + USB. Am I right in thinking that providing I have a Live, Neutral and...

GardTec alarm with Eurosec CP8L and addon wireless PIR

Sorry just saw your other reply, after posting. I figured it was different to my previous topic title, but mods feel free to delete.

GardTec alarm with Eurosec CP8L and addon wireless PIR

Can the Eurosec CP8L support wireless sensors such as PIRs? Doing my research it suggests the CPX has wireless support but not the CP8L. Is it possible to add a separate wireless receiver into a zone to allow the use of wireless PIR at all?

Newish build house with no PIR upstairs for alarm system, is this common?

I figured that's what part set modes are for right? I didn't have a choice, as a new build it seems they never had any PIR fitted upstairs on any of them by design. Why I'm not sure, cost saving maybe, but one extra PIR doesn't seem that much more effort considering when it was being built...
