    Cooker Hood ducting upgrade

My current cooker hood ducting consists of white PVC hose connected to the hood's 120mm adaptor by tape. It travels up through a hole in the kitchen ceiling to the loft where it travels 1.8m horizontally along the loft insulation before turning 90 degrees downward to a hole in the loft...

    Cooker Hood ducting upgrade

What's best to connect down to the plastic adaptor on top of the hood? I'm wondering if a short run of flexible silver ducting might be best if it's easier to connect to the adaptor (with a Jubilee clip) than rigid piping would be.

Hot water cylinder spray foam for gaps

Not an essential issue but I'm considering replacing the bulky cylinder thermostat tied round the hot water cylinder with a Honeywell version. The cylinder is foam insulated so the smaller dimensions of the Honeywell thermostat would leave gaps in the foam of a good few centimetres. Is there a...

    Bathroom basin tap valve problem

Hi Nige. The loose jumper doesn't stay in the main body because the hole's too big. It keeps falling out.

    Bathroom basin tap valve problem

As can be seen, the end part has broken off. I can't find any silver tap valve replacements specific to the "Traditional 1928" range online (can anyone?) so would it be best to wrap the end of the broken piece with PTFE tape and jam it in to the main body?

Stuart Turner Monsoon Twin negative head 1.5Bar randomly switching on and off

@Lower - There's a very slow drip coming from the tap. It's slight but presumably a leak. Wondering if it's worth making inner adjustments or replacing the 18 year old mixer set with a new product.

Stuart Turner Monsoon Twin negative head 1.5Bar randomly switching on and off

Situated under the bath to boost bath shower mixer taps. Works perfectly fine with the taps on. Randomly switches on and off for 5 seconds(ish) , 3-4 times an hour Checked Pressure Vessel - flat - didn't hold cycle pump repressurisation so replaced it. Checked with pressure gauge on new one -...

    Isolating valves on rubber pipes

I wish to replace two isolating valves which connect two rubber pipes (which join to a water pump situated beneath the bath). Would any compounds be required or would simply tightly securing the valves be good enough for a water tight fitting?

Virgin Media V+ box not holding power

That does now appear to be the case. There's a link between the motherboard and the VM card, I think.

Virgin Media V+ box not holding power

You're spot on, John. VM's quick fix is to apply a direct box swap instead of fixing the fault. I've got the HD out but the drive is formatted to a system foreign to Windows. Your PC mender suggestion is an excellent one - thanks.

Virgin Media V+ box not holding power

If you'd read the opening post you'd have seen the answer to your opening question. What are "loose" recordings? That's an IF. The fact is it hasn't failed. Obviously. Yes. No. they're not. What new box?
