Can you recommend tool for plaster and steel?

Thanks, will try that. For the straps, they're screwed to wall in the reveal, the screw heads are rusted so I can't unscrew them but they're still very well attached to the wall, can't prise them off and they're too close to the wall to cut the screws.

Can you recommend tool for plaster and steel?

Looking for a tool to remove plaster (solid, very) and metal straps (steel, I think) from old windows, can you recommend anything? Tried angle grinder and it cut plaster ok, but very messy and it just created sparks on the steel!

Having an electric oven installed, has switch on wall behind

Okay, thanks for replies. Just wondering if I have to get the switch moved or removed before I can get a new one installed? Or rather, before anyone will agree to install it.

Just checked and, no, the bottom of it is just 110mm above the hob.

Having an electric oven installed, has switch on wall behind

We have an oven with old setup where the switch is on the wall behind the hob. I believe this is no longer allowed. We need a new oven. What are the options for the installation? If I get the shop delivering to install, will they refuse? Will an electrician?

Would you get any/all of these tested for asbestos?

    Thanks, appreciate your reply

Would you get any/all of these tested for asbestos?

Thanks. Have no concerns about most as all standard stuff like brick/wood/lime/solid plaster - no cement boards or owt (maybe by old back boiler, but that's hidden away). Bitumen again on kitchen floor is other possibility, but covered by newer tiling before we even had a clue of asbestos. Yea...

Would you get any/all of these tested for asbestos?

House built mid-1940's, ex council, new windows in last couple years. These replaced ones council had done in 1985. Had plaster removed from a few windows - dust everywhere. Afterwards someone mentions possibility of asbestos. In the plaster as it was really hard (just looks like gypsum so I had...

Wet vs dry verge and ventilation/mix

Thanks for your response, that's helpful. Good to know that the same tiles could be used for a dry system at the ridge. I am more inclined towards same on both for reasons you've stated. It's true we haven't had any apparent issues to date, but also looking at options to improve...

Wet vs dry verge and ventilation/mix

Hi Ridge and verge on our 75 year old need re-doing. Definitely decided against any dry verge many roofers seem to think is preferable. However, not so sure for the ridge, the dry system would provide ventilation whereas the wet does not, however the current ridge tiles look good as new and...

Query for roofing companies and references?

Perhaps, though I'd be expect they'd ask the past customer first if it's okay. That's the thing, though, if it's not common practice anymore then it may just be awkward . Anyway, I've messaged my council to see if they have a list of traders. May have a wander 'round my neighbourhood too, see if...

Query for roofing companies and references?

Okay, thank you. That's very helpful - I did not know this about such websites. And, indeed, only found it by looking up info on hiring traders on Citizen's Advice (though they also say to ask for references). Thanks again...the search continues

Query for roofing companies and references?

Thanks for your response, and I agree. It's just that there have been so many now who give the same response (reviews/photos online) when I ask for references... or just don't reply. Trying to establish if this is normal practice (customers relying on online stuff) now or if I should insist on...

Query for roofing companies and references?

Hi Can you let me know what is expected in terms of references for work I want doing (approx 3 days' work cost £2,400-£2,800)? I got a few quotes, and the few I'm interested in have reviews online (one in particular has 80 odd good reviews on Checkatrade, a few good ones in other sites/google...
