Here are the pictures of the thermostat and junction box. On the room thermostat they seem to have used the grey wire as a Neutral covered with blue tape. The black is the switched live I assume. So tracing these back to the junction box (entering bottom left) remove those three to isolate the...
I have purchased a single channel Hive unit for my Vaillant Combi. I already have the hub from my previous house.
Just to confirm from this post and my pic attached of the existing Honeywell ST9100A unit, that I will need to insert a link between L and Common (currently 1) and move the switched...
Nope Cambridge the cycling city of the UK.
Given some people spend much more than that every year on petrol whereas I use my bicycle every day, finding £200 a year is pretty easy :)
As this post has now lost all sense of perspective I guess with that reply I am done!

Yes but I am guessing you do your own servicing and repairs :)
I think it is advisable at least to get your boiler serviced every year so there is a min of £100/year :)
Given that, on average it has cost me £200 each year.

Well I wasn't really going to bother replying any more, but what the hell, everyone wants to win an Internet forum argument and I have a little time on my hands ;)
Ok I have lived in my house for 12 years and had a service contract with BG the whole time. I guess over that time I have...
Lol ok. Clearly all the other engineers that have quoted want to fleece me in equal measure then ;)
My system was installed in 1994 so I think I have got my money's worth :)

I have just had the final quote of four to install a new Combi in the roof space. The quote was well detailed and came out at £100 more than the BG one for the same boiler.
Despite all this I have actually gone with BG to power flushing my existing system, install a few new/replaced radiators...
The existing controller unit allows independent control of both HW and CH. So the HW will be left as is and the CH moved to constant/wired so it is on all the time.
I am pretty sure in the next couple of years I will need a new boiler so the powerflush and magna clean will set me up for that...
Thanks for the reply D_Hailsham.
Most the problems with failed receivers seems to be the Drayton units with loads of "fixes" for them being sold on ebay.
I am tempted to try one of the Salus RT500RF units...
Anyone got any other recommendations or is the CMT927 the best of breed ?
It does seem that all of these units suffer with failed receivers after about three years or so :(
Jerry
As per this post I have found that BG seem to be getting more competitive.

This was a system to move and replace my existing back boiler with a combi condenser.
