    Feeling kinda stupid…just realised that IS the back of the other cupboards! I was thinking it was some kind of back panel I could remove. Guess the only option is to cut the cable and fit a socket. It feels like solid core installation cable so should be ok.

    Thank you I had wondered about whether insulation inside the soffits would help, although the sound does seem to be coming from the top of the window rather than through the ceiling. I had also wondered whether some acoustic sealant at the top of the window frame would help?
