Don't have storage tank. Similar thing happened a while back when changing tap. Water turned off downstairs, had to head to B&Q for stuff and came back to water spewing out of pipe which had had been dry as a bone for at least an hour before I left.

Hi, turned water off at stop cock before heading to Cornwall for two weeks. Came back to find part of ceiling down and sofa, carpets etc. soaking. Any ideas how this could happen with water turned off? Appears to be a sudden, one-off build that went 'whoosh'. Hope someone can through light on...
