Optimax HE Plus 31C losing pressure

Many thanks for your replies. I have to re-pressure after the heating has been on a couple of hours. I don't have floorboards upstairs, they're 8 x 4 sheets, but I can't see any water coming through the ceilings. Downstairs are solid floors. No puddles. Just put heating on. It's been constant...

Optimax HE Plus 31C losing pressure

Hi to all. I was hoping to get a few more years out of it. It was installed in October 2009. I've checked for leaks around radiators, but they're dry. No drips from the bottom of the boiler. I turned off the boiler, filled the pressure up and left it a few hours. The dial didn't move. Is it...

    Earth connected to live

sparkwright, I agree with you. It's the installer who's taking it bad. The picture is all they sent. It was supposedly taken by their 'electrician' and forwarded.

    Earth connected to live

Thank you to all for your replies, expertise and time. To sum up, the general opinion seems to be the householder has 'got it wrong'. I take it that because the gas and water ARE bonded, it's not possible for the earth to be live without blowing a fuse, which flameport confirms in his...

    Earth connected to live

danniboi2003 - No wider pic. That's the one sent by the householder's 'electrician'. Bernardgreen that's an excellent spot! They do look screwed out. The installer said they remembered breaking out the top to accept the earth. Oldbutnotdead - The gas and water pipes were bonded. The point...

    Earth connected to live

They've been qualified for 25 years. Their own business for 15 years covering domestic, commercial and industrial. I'll get back to you about the certificate when I can contact them. The thing about the photo is the bottom screw is not screwed in. They say they would never leave a screw loose...

    Earth connected to live

Hi. Without too much personal info could you advise me what would happen in the following situation. An electrician of many years experience changed an old fuse board for a new metal one with rcd's etc. 2 days later the customer claimed they had got a shock from the sink. They also claimed the...

    Will knots bleed through varnish

Thanks to you both. I'm sorted now. Just got back from screwfix with the BIN exchange. Just need some motivation now in glorious weather like this. I think I'll start Monday. No time like later on. Barbecues instead I reckon. Many thanks. John

    Will knots bleed through varnish

Firstly, many thanks opps for taking the time to explain things to me. I've ordered the BIN from Screwfix, which is where I got the 123. I'll return the 123. As I said, I wanted BIN originally because Zinsser say that can go straight on varnish without sanding. Just a good clean. And it sorts...

    Will knots bleed through varnish

Right... I'm probably taking the 123 back and getting BIN. It was the warnings for safety with BIN that put me off. VOC, masks, well ventilated, headaches, nausea etc. I'll be taking the doors off and painting them one at a time in my small shed. Looks like getting a full bodysuit! Thanks again...

    Will knots bleed through varnish

Thank you very much opps. Looks like that's my only option. I was going to get the BIN but when I read the drying times, and the fact it stinks, I decided against it. Thanks again. John

    Will knots bleed through varnish

Thanks for that opps. My laboured point was... Yes, I'm painting them white again. Will the varnish be sealing in the resin? Is the varnish acting as a sealant already? It's Diamond Hard so it's supposed to stop stains getting through the varnish to the paint below. Does that also apply to...

    Will knots bleed through varnish

Hi to all. About 10 years ago I made a pine kitchen. Few years later the wife wanted the doors white. I didn't do any knotting, never thought, so obviously knots are now showing through. She wants it painting again. I originally used Dulux gloss, then 2 coats of Ronseal Diamond hard varnish. The...

Rain soaking through paint and render?

Bit late but it took me a long time to figure out. It was condensation! Baffled, I eventually found the inside top ledge against the house was wet through and running down the corner. Then, I had a light bulb moment. We have a tall, bushy Umbrella plant in the opposite corner. I noticed the...
