Manual/hand crank water pump to prime shower pump?

Thanks. There is flow with the pump turned off, but for some reason once I've introduced air into the system (even the slight amount between the inlet hoses and the pump) it no longer flows.

Manual/hand crank water pump to prime shower pump?

I've tried that in the past and it doesn't work. I need to draw some water through the pump first or it doesn't work.

Manual/hand crank water pump to prime shower pump?

I'm about to replace my shower pump (posted about elsewhere). To ensure the pump is primed I will need to draw the water through it on both feeds. Last time I took off the shower head, attached a shower hose and sucked the water through. Is there any type of simple manual water pump (hand...

    Shower pump seized

Sorry what is MI'S? Could you please elaborate? There is a cylinder for the hot water which feeds the shower pump hot side and a loft tank which feeds the cold on the shower pump and also refills the hot water cylinder. All I did was replace the broken unit with a new one. I would like to think...

    Shower pump seized

Thinking about this I think it's time to get get a bigger loft tank. I also notice the cold feed from the loft tank runs to the shower, back to the pump in the airing cupboard (which is almost directly under the loft tank) and then to the shower again. Is this likely due to that it was...

    Shower pump seized

Would I be better off sticking with 1.5bar, or could I use a 2.0bar? Shower has never been that powerful. Saying that the header tank in the loft isn't massive, so there is a risk a long shower could empty it.

    Shower pump seized

So is it terminal? Can you recommend another brand that has a longer warranty, or is at least less likely to fail? I don't know how long the previous Salamander pump was in for as it was there when we bought the house, but I wasn't impressed that I gave off a ton of smoke when it decided to...

    Shower pump seized

I installed a Salamander CT50+XTRA just over 3 years ago (to replace an older version that decided to start smoking). The other day my wife called me as the shower was just dripping. The pump was running but clearly no pressure. I turned mixer from full hot to cold. The pump just hums on both...

Wiring auto dialler into VOIP adapter?

Thanks. I've been reading a bit more and it appears I could run a line from the adapter to the socket and replace the connection to outside with this. This would mean the socket would work as normal but would now run through the VIOP adapter. I will open the socket up and have a look.

Wiring auto dialler into VOIP adapter?

I have an alarm auto dialler that is wired directly into a UK BT phone socket. I'm planning to ditch the landline and get a VOIP service and use something like a Grandstream HT-802 VoIP Adapter, which has 2 phone inputs. I want to remove the auto dialler wiring from the wall socket and fix a...

    Boiler thermostat question

I had my boiler serviced today. The engineer offered to turn down the thermostat on the boiler saying it would save money. I previously set the boiler thermostat to around 70 deg, as the hot water cylinder is set to 65 deg. I always thought if the boiler is set to a lower temperature than the...

Options for widen/renew or new driveway and likely cost?

I want to get our block paved driveway widened and am considering a clean, tidy/repair and extend, or just replacing it. There has been some damage from a tree root which has now been cut down. Can anyone offer any advice on options and likely costs and anything I need to consider? If just...

Do I need to silicone the whole lot?

Sorry I seem to have moved onto the shower tray. The size 16 profile tool only just reaches the tile above in the corner, so that is going to be one big ol pile of silicone. It's like the tray has dipped a bit in the corner. Could this be due to previous leaking causing damage underneath? I...

Do I need to silicone the whole lot?

I am doing to the corner, sealant remover on, although it doesn't appear to work that well compared to the video I watched. Thanks for the tip to fill the bath. I may get in it too :D. BTW this is the shower tray pre removal and after. There was gap between the top of the silicone and the...
