    I have just replaced batteries on 6 cheapo watches and then done wifes raymond weil which is waterproof, no different just as easy, if you are concerned about water tightness then check the gasket /o-ring if ok you can buy a silicon gel to smear the gasket, I never bothered. Total cost £1.49...

    I have loosened the plastic knurled nut at the bottom and was expecting the valve to lift off, it doesnt, it feels like something is still holding it and I dont want to force it. Nothing wrong with it I just want it off to clean it up (remove paint) Advice please.

    I suspect what has happened is the original wiring was hardwired to a thermostat programmable timer, when this failed and replaced with the current thermostat only, then the wiring was adjusted to take account of thermostat only and bypass the programmable timer part. Just my laymans thinking.

    There is a actuator valve in an awkward spot connected to pipe work. The wiring centre from your manual (page 12) coincides with the image in my first post. That manual looks correct. No hot water cylinder, hot water comes direct from the combi boiler.
