Evohome: Hot Water demand switches Central Heating on too.

:) I knew that was coming.. I didn't install the system... The original builders did.. They must have had the idea of a 2 zone house.. But then used the CM67Z stat and HR80UK TRVs to do it in "software".. Infact the cynic in me goes a bit further.. The house is 12 years old and had many...

Evohome: Hot Water demand switches Central Heating on too.

No. They are just wired in parallel so just act like one valve... I retrofitted Evohome over my old setup which was basically 2 relays (CM67z Thermostat for CH.. And 1 Channel timer for HW).. the CH relay (CM67z) controlled the 2 valves with no problem... It didn't even care.. It just put mains...

Evohome: Hot Water demand switches Central Heating on too.

To be clear.. I have read many posts with similar symptoms to this but the cause is either: 1. Communications Issues to the BDR91s 2. Faulty valves - where the relay closes on the BDR91s but the Valves still create demand. My case is totally different.. The BDR91s are doing exactly what they...

Evohome: Hot Water demand switches Central Heating on too.

A few weeks back changed my Honeywell CM67z to a EvoHome.. I have had many teething problems but am starting to get used to the Nuances of the system. I have 2xMotorized Vales in my Central heating, but they are wired in parallel. I have a single BDR91 which opens both valves at the same time...

    Alternative to Quinetic switches?

Thanks all.. I think I am sold on an external IP66 switch now, directly behind the existing switch (on the outside wall). That makes the most sense and would be easy and cheap to install...

    Alternative to Quinetic switches?

The original developer (Barrett Homes) would have done this.. But I guess the original owner is to blame for not objecting at the time... I certainly would.. I don't really need a neon.. The door has a pane of glass so its easy to see that the light is on. That said, the Neon is on when the...

    Alternative to Quinetic switches?

I don't think the "Kinetic" switches are unusal.. Whats more rare is a receiver which fits in a light socket and operates on Switched live.. Most of the generic wireless switches need live and netural so would need wiring into the rose.. And this may not be as difficult as I am thinking.. But...

    Alternative to Quinetic switches?

This should help understand what I am trying to do... Light switch is on the right.. Door is hinged on the right.. Door is open and gets in the way of the switch, so you have to close it behind you to get to the switch... Not actually so bad going in.. But coming out can be dangerous as you...

    Alternative to Quinetic switches?

:) Exactly... And if you drew a negative of that image (so its black) that might give you an idea of what its like at night.

    Alternative to Quinetic switches?

ehhh? Its in the room.. Right behind the door.. So I have to go in, close the door behind me and then struggle to find the switch. I can't stress how dark it is.. I am on the edge of town so there is literally no light of any kind.. And once you go into the room you may as well close your...

    Alternative to Quinetic switches?

After you wrote this I had a look at Youtube and there are actually a few "presence" sensors.. One using 24ghz Radar to detect movement which apparantly works But this isn't the way I want to go as I would prefer a normal switch.

    Alternative to Quinetic switches?

:) Not that "the other side of the door".. The current switch is on the hinge side so behind the door when I open it.. I want it on the other side so its easier to get to. This is a room above my garage which is in absolute darkness as there is no light of any kind.. So I want a way to switch...

    Alternative to Quinetic switches?

Exactly why I didn't consider a PIR.. I am not aware of a "presence" sensor either, but I suspect they would be possible to make (I can think of a few ways of how I would go about it) and certainly not cheap if they did...

    Alternative to Quinetic switches?

I did think about a PIR.. But they are really annoying when they time out and you are still in the room and you have to wave your arms around to activate it again... That said, I havnt' looked if there is a type which stays active for as long as you are moving and only shuts down when you have...

    Alternative to Quinetic switches?

Thanks... There are a few options from China which take L+N in and this could be retrofitted into the rose, rather than using the switch.. But would prefer to keep the original light switch location in situe and replace it with some kind of "receiver" (Like the Quinetic).. Even if the...
