Can anyone suggest a cause/solution to this problem?
When the cold kitchen (mains) tap is turned on there is a loud vibrating noise. Sometimes the noise also happens seemingly randomly, but if you turn the kitchen cold water tap on then off it goes away. It also tends to go away on it's own...
I've been tasked to replace the following sink which is built into the counter top. The taps have apparently been leaking for years and the sink has a gross amount of limescale built up.

I've just changed over a couple of basin taps, and cut a couple of isolation valves into the pipework while I was there (a good idea as it happens as when I turned the water back on and opened the value the hot tap sprayed water everywhere!)

I used the downstairs feeds for the washing machine (I disconected one of the flexible pipes, then screwed the other pipe across both the hot and cold taps.
Then I turned the hot on half, the cold on half, the hot on full and then the cold on nearly full - then left it for about 30 seconds...
ok, I've done some further investiagation. The problem also seems to affect the most of the other taps, but they take longer to slow to a dribble as they seem to have a much smaller flow than the bath tap.
I've tried blasting the mains through the hot tap, but it doesn't seem to make any...
