It's about 9 yrs old and has been serviced every year.
Plumber said that the original valves had perished and he was to replace them with graphite valves? The previous year it was something else, can't remember what. I've not asked him this time as I've rather lost confidence in him I'm...
Hi everyone
My Glow worm 18hxi boiler has stopped working. It shows error code F4 lor F1. It's done this before over the last two years and the plumber has changed valves which semi-sorted the problem. This year though it won't even restart after a cooling down period. What should I do...
Hi. We have identitical halogen light fittings in the Living room and dining room, they take the little tiny halogen bulbs and were fitted about 12 m ago. We got them from Asda.
After about 3 months the LR fitting didn't work and we identified the transformer had gone so got it...
Think I probably mean something other than fuses - I have to ping a switch back up? Technically, am much better shopping than DIY - stereotypical but true.
Thanks for your advice - he's replaced the switch and switch works but still no lights, we'll have a romantic Christmas eve and...
Hi everyone - and Happy Christmas!
The house I live in was rewired about 2 yrs ago - the previous occupants passed on the certificate etc to us. My partner fitted a 2 halogen light fitting (one in the dining room and one in the living room) about 3 months ago and both worked fine until last...
Spot on Agile. Wasn't just the temperature gauge, various other bits and bobs went wrong and the engineer eventually said it was beyond him. Couldn't get anyone else prepared to do it either. I thought about it for a while, coz i didn't want to spend the money when the old boiler should have...
Did what you suggested, have just had new doors put on and went for a contrasting colour - looks great and at a good price too, something I'd never have thought of. Cheers
Meant to post an update sooner to say thanks - rather a long oversight there - apologies. Boiler completely knackered as it turns out so new glow worm installed. Thanks for your help on this query.
Hi all. Just wanted to update you because if it hadn't ben for all your advice I'd never have got the result I did. I had a chat with the neighbours, their chimney breast has also been removed so we shared the cost of removing the chimney - LA were fine with it and it didn't cost as much as I...
Thanks Woody, the survey is of the type that covers itself in everyway without actually telling you anything useful.
I'll call the surveyor on Monday and ask him this question along with the others I have lined up.
Thank you, that's useful to know.
How would I find out if it has been done properly? The current owners say the conservatory was added in 2000, before they bought the house, and therefore there are no receipts/guarantees/details of which builders etc.
Hi all
The survey on the house I'm hoping to buy has come back saying (amongst other things) that the conservatory may have been built over the drains.
How do I find out for definite and is it a big problem? (presumably only if the drains need repairing?).
If it is a big problem...
Hi - thanks for all your advice. I shan't touch those wires again, am terrified now! However, it has solved the problem, no more flicker-psst over the weekend. Electrician coming tomorrow.
Thanks all of you.
Hi. I checked the light switch and it all seemed OK, with no loose connections etc. Then I noticed that when the lights flickered I could hear a 'psst' sound from the fuse box. I don't think it's modern but my electric skills are not too good (in fact non existent). It's a grey box with 6...
