RCD tripping on a light circuit

Hi Harry, That is the only thing I have done as suggested earlier, disconnected the live brown on the switch, closed the breaker and the the RCD still trips. So I'm looking at a cable fault between switch and breaker? I'm pretty sure, though not 100% that the cable will run under the floor...

RCD tripping on a light circuit

Not sure what you mean. Only thing I have done physically with the cabling is disconnect at the light switch. Is that classed as splitting the circuit?

No problem and thanks for your input. (y) In hindsight I probably should have added pictures on the original post!

RCD tripping on a light circuit

no, but we are in a basement with a large communal garden behind and I think a void under the floor which increases towards the rear, so I think it is safe to assume they are about, rats that is. You suspect rodent damage under the floor between switch and breaker?

RCD tripping on a light circuit

Evening Gentlemen, Apologies if I may have caused any confusion. Below is the panel in question. Note the labelling is misaligned and needs to move 1 to the left, I believe 'lights #4' is the circuit with the issue not 'Bath lights'. When that breaker is closed, the breaker labelled RCD with...

RCD tripping on a light circuit

Ok, disconnected and made safe, power on and still trips. I assume this points to the cable between the switch and breaker being the issue?

RCD tripping on a light circuit

I don't think so, looks like a sealed unit. A Tamlite TLED-455/WW Tilt 8W LED. Yes, neutral and live into the switch

RCD tripping on a light circuit

Yes, I've taken the switch off. Clean and dry. Is it worth checking the light fittings or will they be OK, given the circuit trips regardless of the position of the light switch?

RCD tripping on a light circuit

Thank you for the replies. Much appreciated.(y) There are no outside lights. There are 6 spots on the circuit. The circuit trips with the light switch in either position so I thought the fault is not related to the light fittings or that part of the circuit. Is that a safe assumption or should...

RCD tripping on a light circuit

Hello, I have an RCD that is tripping. I have by elimination found it is a lighting circuit. When closing the breaker for that circuit the RCD trips with the light switch in either position. I've tried replacing the switch with the same result. I am assuming the fault is on the cable to the...
