I assume by open system you mean a tank in the loft feeding the radiators? If so, then its a sealed system i.e. a drop in pressure requires topping it up via a tap underneath the boiler.
The radiator in question is in the front bedroom ( upstairs ) and the boiler is downstairs.

Good morning, I removed a radiator for decorating and when I took off the plastic cover to the lockshield value the lock spindle was leaking slightly. When I closed the value it did stop leaking, but will this need replacing or can it be fixed?

Thanks for the reply. We do have a room thermostat located in the living room. I change the programmer myself ( the plumber told me it was a simple process ) from a old glowworm to a Drayton Tempus 7. The boiler is a Vulcan Continental. None of the radiators have thermostatic...

When I switch the hot water on two rads ( One downstairs in the conservatory and one in a bedroom ) heat up. Can anyone explain what might be happening and whether I can sort it myself?

I have three 3-core wires hanging from the bathroom ceiling and need to know which one is the switch wire to fit a new ceiling rose, but there doesn't seem to be any visible differences in the wiring. Can someone please suggest the easiest way of finding out. Thanks
