    Permitted development question

Is adding an extra storey or two to a residential detached house permitted development? If so why aren’t people going about doing so. Can I add 2 floors of 3.5m each to the first floor of my detached house without any planning permission. Keeping roof the same. Thank you

Does this mean I can go back off the kitchen width at 4m depth and off the side of the kitchen behind the lounge till it meets the main side wall ( all single story?)

Maximum extension under PD for this plan

Yes, the neighbours on one side is their garages and the other is their side wall with no windows so not sure how that applies here I am thinking of putting an offer on it and property is in an area where you cannot change the brick work. So trying to figure the worst case scenario

Maximum extension under PD for this plan

thank you! I sort of feared exactly what you mentioned. Currently the house is rather tight and difficult to extend. Can that L bit infill be a side extension or is that not permitted?

Dear All, I was thinking of extending this rear wards 2 storey or single storey but don't think it's straight forwards. Boundary to the right is on the line and the left is 1m, detached property. Garden is over 100ft. Would appreciate your thoughts and any sketches on the attached. Many Thanks!

    Cavity wall insulation

Our house is a detached 1960s chalet style house (similar to a dormer bungalow) the cavity wall is not closed and has no insulation. I have access to the cavity in most places. Should I just chuck some loose eps beads off eBay? Couple of issues, Air bricks into cavity and then into suspended...

    Small ramp on path

I have a patio that sits 4cm above an existing concrete path 90cm wide. This is a trip hazard and want to blend in the patio to the path by constructing a concrete ramp. How long should this be to safely blend in the height difference? Also how do I prevent the ramp falling apart? What mix...

    Help Cracked shower tray

Ground floor, suspended timber floor. Pictures attached, 2.5m span 18mm osb From what I recall, full mortar bed, it was placed on it and squashed till the falls etc were right, obviously cannot tell if edges were supported by mortar, but having said that I don’t step at the edges as that edge...
