Board over with water resistant plasterboard or not?

Hi all, I have a plasterer coming in a week to skim over a new extention/bathroom. The bathroom has insulated plasterboard on the ceiling, but it's not water resistant plasterboard, it's regular plasterboard. As it's being skimmed, do I need to overboard it in MR plasterboard first, or can I...

Thanks THughes! :) I think I prefer the look of the Apex roof version, so this is good news + I am concerned that the flat roof version would not be seen as valuable to the mortgage valuers. Although the house is not an investment as such (bought is as we started a family) The recession was a...

    Extension Build Thread

Hello all, As mentioned before, I have a lean too that is in severe disrepair, and am slowly working towards submitting my planning application for building a new extension in its place. V1: The Grey extension pictured above is one possibility. An alternative, is the version below: V2...

    Do I need planning?...

The current structure is falling apart. The roof leaks and the walls are unstable. I can't see it as right that I need planning to fix it! Mad.

    Do I need planning?...

Even though the foundations don't change? I.e. I'm only knocking the walls down + rebuilding them.

    Do I need planning?...

Thanks Tony1851! If I rebuild the lean too like for like, would I still need planning?

    Do I need planning?...

Hello, I bought my home 2 years ago, it is a semi detached 3 bed, built in about 1910. (4.5m x 6m) It had an extention added circa 1960 (apparently). This extention is bigger than the original house. At 6m x 6m It has a second extention/ 'lean too' which has been added on the 1st extension...

Advice on Intergas HRE 28/24 not firing heating

Is the boiler more efficient at 55 deg? Or is that statement based on the lower difference between a room temp and the water temp giving lower losses through pipework etc? Just wondering. Actually, on that front- lagging pipes would presumably help? Plus, I would assume that any benefit from...

Advice on Intergas HRE 28/24 not firing heating

OK, cool, Ive found the opentherm R8810A1018 honeywell for £84 on plumbnation. My best guess is a 5-10% saving on gas, that amount would presumably increase the more often the heating was changed in target temp or the outside temp changed? Assuming my gas bill was a conservative£600-800 a...

Advice on Intergas HRE 28/24 not firing heating

So its more efficient, and at worst I could just up it slightly if I felt the heating system wasn't capable of getting the house to a warm enough level in the coldest of winter? While I'm thinking about it, at a later date, would you suggest its worth swapping out the bdr91 relay for the...

Advice on Intergas HRE 28/24 not firing heating

OK, Opened valve to let air out (located top left of case- same one as before...was this the right one, or was it one inside the unit? perimeter 3 has been set to 40 (was 70). What have I actually changed here? And dhw/CH temps have been adjusted. On a side note- toastie in here! :D

Advice on Intergas HRE 28/24 not firing heating

Not at home for a few hours, so will get on it tonight! I have 9 rads, but 5 of them are the fancy new non convector ones that look like the old cast iron ones. These look like they take a lot of water compared to double convectors if that changes anything.

Advice on Intergas HRE 28/24 not firing heating

Well..... I left the boiler overnight to cool. This morning, I spend half an hour forcing the pump round. It got easier as I did it, but it got very stiff at one position, so I thought that was it. Fired it up, no change. Manually turned it again, fired a second time, and this time I heard...
