Fixing shelf bracket to 25mm insulated plasterboard

That could be a good shout. What sort of screws would drive straight into brick? Would frame fixings be best?

Fixing shelf bracket to 25mm insulated plasterboard

Hi all, Wanting to put a few shelves up and have bought the brackets (Sandshult, from IKEA). As you can see on the photo, there's a recess at the back of the bracket that slots onto a screw. The wall is 25mm insulated plasterboard and I was planning on using hollow wall anchors. However, only...

    Soundproofing workshop

Thanks Jacko555, really helpful to have somebody else's balanced take on things. Rather than shell out several hundred quid for a solution that may not be totally effective I think I'll take your advice.

    Soundproofing workshop

It's a very good question. My neighbours posted on the local community group about someone making noise with a circular saw. Pretty pathetic as they know it's me and have never once mentioned anything to me! Anyway, regardless how they dealt with it, I'm conscious of the noise now and don't want...

    Soundproofing workshop

Thanks guys, appreciate the suggestions. Can you think of a less costly & less time-consuming approach that may not be as 'proper' but will still do a decent job of soundproofing? The workshop is 2.4 x 4.8metres so it'd take a long old time to remove/refix all the feather edge and with wood...

    Soundproofing workshop

If I were to remove the ply lining inside I couldn't just butt up the mineral wool against the inside of the feather edge though could I? How would you suggest I get round that? Cheers

    Soundproofing workshop

Hi John, Can you think of a way of using mineral wool other than removing the cladding and starting from scratch? It's all finished so trying to avoid major adjustments as it'd take a lot of time and cost. Thanks, Jack

    Soundproofing workshop

Hi guys, Hoping for some advice on how I can retro-soundproof my wood workshop. I say soundproof, but what I really mean is limit the sound to a level where my neighbours don't complain! As you can see on the images below, it's a very simple timber-frame shed. It was built to a cost and I...

Block paver apron for gravel driveway

Hi all, I'm planning on adding a short block paver apron between the footpath and my gravel driveway. My question is about how I keep the pavers in position given that they'll be driven over regularly. The pavers are only 50mm thick and so I don't think that simply haunching them where they...

    Condensation problems in shed

Hi all, I’m after some advice on a condensation issue I’ve got in my recently built shed. I’ve read various forum posts but can’t seem to find a solution to my problem. The floor is 25mm ply timber suspended. Standard stud walls with feather edge cladding and no internal sheathing yet...

Laying Patio Over Filled In Pond

Decided to leave this area for another 6 months or so, didn't fancy taking the risk.

Laying Patio Over Filled In Pond

Hi all, I've started working on a 3x6 metre porcelain patio out the back of our house. I've dug out to around 150mm below finished paving level (with 1 in 60 fall away from house) so now ready to get 100mm of MOT type 1 whackered in. There used to be a wee pond about 2x2 metres big to one side...

    Fitting kitchen around a pillar

That's a good shout, a bit like a French cleat system. I actually make the adjustments yesterday and took a while to get it all square and to reattach the hanging brackets but it should do the trick. Thanks all for your help!

    Fitting kitchen around a pillar

How do you suggest I fix the wall unit to the wall? The fixings are attached to the back panel so by cutting out the back I'll be removing the fixings. Do you think I jut cut out the back then fix back panel back in place? Not confident about how strong that'd be.
