    Remove knee walls?

Im looking to remove/move the knee walls in my roof space. The rafters are notched to allow for the wall, I propose to sister each rafter with either steel or timber, on one or both sides, to allow the space to be freed up. Is this feasible? The basic structure is rafters with knee walls and...

    Alternative lighting switch systems

Thanks ban-all-sheds for that! :cautious: Two points: 1. Those buttons in that link were the only reference i had for you guys, all I needed was a reference to the push button and there it was. 2. I prefer the switches for their function, because I really like the click feel and I have a mild...

    Alternative lighting switch systems

That's it I think you've found it. What would the benefit be for this kind of system? I can only think something to do with phasing of works and saving on cabling? I'm coming to this because I prefer the switches themselves.

    Alternative lighting switch systems

Hi, In italy, and ive seen this in other places as well, they use light switches with a single button (spring loaded) that operate a switch remotely in a wall somewhere, centralised for all wall switches. Does anyone know what this system is called and why you see it in lots of places but never...

Is this rubble in my victorian floor?

I will be putting back the same and more. I dont believe in this day and age anyone would specify "rubble" for any kind of insulation!

Is this rubble in my victorian floor?

Ok hmm.. I will have to remove it all to get my interstitial insulation and underfloor heating pipes in!

Is this rubble in my victorian floor?

I am in the process of refurbishing a victorian house, I have checked in 3 places across the house, there is about 150mm of rubble with a black almost volcanic (or coal??) and concrete-like consistency, it is almost light weight. This is the most obvious one in front of the fireplace. In...
