Hi,
I'm building a single leaf block wall to partition off part of my garage...
Does anyone know if it is ok to build a single storey(11 courses high) 5m long wall with medium density blocks without any additional support?
I'm worried Building Control will tell me to support it somehow...
No, no-one has said anything... It just seemed like an obvious opportunity to do what I need to do and then I thought.... is it too obvious???!
Based on my calculation I need 140mm celotex board to get to achieve the required U-value of 0.25 W/m²K, but they don't do them so could I use...
Does anyone know if there are any reasons why you can't double-up celotex boards as a means to getting to the regulatory U-value?
(or anthing that has less thermal conductivity for the same or less thickness?)
Thanks
lightboy
OK, so, having chatted to a builder the gap is going to make a suspended floor tricky (ventilation etc) so the answer is... level the floor with concrete... lay floor joists on top and fill the gaps with insulation, boarding the top of the joists with flooring grade chipboard.
:?: The only...
Hi, Thank you for such a prompt reply...
Yes, I guess!... My final objective is a flat floor that is the simplest and most effecient to build, I'm just not sure if the best approach is for it to be suspended or whether it is better to level the concrete base (which I don't know how to do...
Hi, I'm planning to level a sloping garage floor (from 'flat' at one end to about 50mm below at the other). The existing floor is dusty (but very solid) concrete.
Anyone have any ideas about how best to do it :? ?
I then plan to lay floor joists on top of the levelled floor and floor...
