    no earth

b-a-s hi mate. why is 32A & 2.5mm T&E an unsafe combination. I understood that to be the combination for standard domestic circuits ?

not sure how to go about

been down the wife shop and there are some pretty god deals down there. before i get a new one though, i thought about putting up an additional pendant in the unlit corner above the dining table. However, I'm still going to have the same problem of getting through the joists without bringing...

not sure how to go about

ahh. right. wife set on downlighting. mmmm food for thought. so it cant really be done without ripping down old ceiling, putting in junction boxes and transformers, then putting up new plasterboard? thats gonna cost.

not sure how to go about

putting low voltage spots in ground floor flat. no access from above, and a bit tight on space, about 250mm between p/board and upstairs. Ceiling is plasterboard. Can make out where old point has been plastered over in centre of room, but how to get from there to the transformers?

    earth in lighting circuits

hey space cat. nope it was a dry lining box with no earth terminal - the earth was originally going to brass dimmer earth. The 2nd point was in my dads property. Again the back box was not metal it was plastic with no terminal( probably old lighting wiring - so not going to rewire for a...

    earth in lighting circuits

replacing old brass dimmer for plastic one way switch. is leaving the earth in choc block for potential further brass plates the standard practice? on a similar note when extending a switch i found there to be no earth ( or maybe chopped back very neatly ) on the existing switch cable- this was...

    maximum demand for property

yeah i agree Garymo, I was just unclear as to when it comes to certification and the maximum demand exceeds the main cut out what the protocol was. So is there a general rule of thumb, a further diversity even, to consider when assuming maximum demand for the property?

    maximum demand for property

    domestic ring up,13A ring dwn, 13A (ie both rings at 40%) ring kitchen, 32A(100%) cooker & socket32A (15Kw - 1st 10A+30%remainder + 5A socket) shower,40A lights up lights dwn,6A(66%) immersion 13A

    maximum demand for property

when ive assumed diversity for each circuit, and added them for maximum demand on property it totals 149A....Now the main cut out is BS 1361 rated at 100A....so how is this permissible...most domestic properties are protected by similar fuses with similar demand. What is the protocol. Am i right...

    vd and ccc for rings

thanks spark123 I was taking the 27A a side from table4D1A..method 1. Are you referring to method 4? I am confused by vd on rings as a result of the standard circuit tables..which state 32A type B max run (tn-c-s)84m. If i then caculate vd by {(vd/A/m)*Ib*L}/1000 ie {18*32*84}/1000 =...
