If an old type u6 meter is installed with two anacondas and no bracket then gas fraud is poss without even removing the meter. But that aint a gas safety issue.
You have to remove the green plug with the two leads fitted from the condense trap. Snip off the two spades from the inside of the plug so there flush, then fit the elbow pointing upwards in the place of the plug then refit the plug on the top of the elbow.

Sorry but had to reply!! If you are 1- 2mm into the surface then your into the pipe as the wall thickness is 0.9mm (22mm tube or 0.7mm 15mm tube). So if your only 0.35mm in ya half way through! turn the gas off and get it sorted.
