Thanks for your input dan. If its so simple then I would appreciate a simple explanation if you didn't mind rather than sarcasm.... I'm a lift engineer and ii wouldn't expect you to be able to get out of a lift if you were stuck and I certainly wouldn't turn up with a sarcastic comment...

However thanks for not patronising me on my description of the pipe coupler/diverter as I did not know the correct technical term for that item!

I have an old baxi boiler system n in January had to have the "pipe coupler/diverter"to the upstairs pump replaced. I had also replaced an old Honeywell thermostat with separate water/ch on/off switches for a new bog standard thermostat in that same week. Since then my boiler seems to ignore...
