Poor quality of new roof (Ed.)

That would be because it was outsourced to carpenters! The battens followed the path of the neighbours so presumably not too hard to mess up!

    Pan connector and soil pipe

Is this a builders bodge or acceptable installation? Soil pipe protruding into bathroom? Many thanks

Poor quality of new roof (Ed.)

Thank you - how would I go about doing that?

Poor quality of new roof (Ed.)

To the extent of having a valid claim that it should be redone (in part or in total)? I’m afraid the brickwork is worse! While I can imagine it’s hilarious to see such clownery - if anyone has any guidance about what action to take, it’s a very unpleasant situation to be in.

Poor quality of new roof (Ed.)

I’ve got a fair few - to avoid me bombarding, what is it that would be useful to see?

It will be difficult to get front gutter pictures although I will try. You can slightly see it on the picture but I wonder whether the step up where the two roof ridges meet should have been done in ridge tiles rather than bonnet. Bonnet shouldn’t have been used in the first place, the brief...

Poor quality of new roof (Ed.)

We’ve been dealing with a cowboy builder and have reached an impasse. There have been various incidents of poor workmanship and all of the other hallmarks. We are not in the trade and have young kids so had to put our faith in someone who had come recommended but didn’t turn out to be what...

    Installation of windows

The window fitter was instructed by us the homeowners. On the assumption that proper practice would be followed rather than every stipulation agreed and formalised

    Installation of windows

It’s more a question of what is proper practice and should this be done by default.

    Installation of windows

Have had some UPVC windows installed to a new cavity wall on an extension. The fitter has not used any form of foam between the window and cavity and has only used silicone. Is this poor practice? Should he be doing so? Our builder believes so, and i trust what he’s saying. Would have thought...

    MOT Type 1

Exactly this. I’m trying to assess if there’s any merit to starting again. I should add it hasn’t all been spread. But we’d still be talking £1k+ to get us to the position we should be in. Including taking the old stuff away, replacement mot and labour Which could be worth it depending how...

    MOT Type 1

The whole transaction was done on the phone. I have no evidence of what we ordered, no invoice, paid cash etc. My naivety perhaps but more likely to get a brick through the window than a successful result via legal methods. Now it’s been raining all of the filler has become more obvious. I...

    MOT Type 1

This is how I would expect a transaction to go with rights after sale etc. The guys response was don’t buy any more from me then. I don’t think we’ll get anywhere with him. We either replace it from a more reputable firm and eat the cost of removal, or we go with what we have.

    MOT Type 1

Thanks. We ordered quarried type 1 MOT and specified it had to be quarried not recycled. This is what we got. No certification or other documentation provided. The guy was adamant afterwards that it is quarried and was quite aggressive about it. Am the homeowner not a builder, so my concern...

    MOT Type 1
