That's true - the top cover has to be removed then there is a drop down panel to access the wiring.
I opened it today to check:
I am presuming the black / grey wires going to 3 & 4 on the block are from my existing (non - wireless) thermostat
Thanks Stem,
The reason why I posted the link was because my initial question was whether the wiring for Vaillant boilers was generic. I provided that as an example.
I'm pretty sure I have the manuals for the boiler somewhere, it's just a case of digging them up and I will do so before doing...
Thanks Dan,
I presume I could proceed with the wiring on page 5 - I'll take a look at my boiler tomorrow to see if it appears the same and somewhere I know I've got the manuals so I'll dig those out too before I decide on Hive or Nest
Hi all,
I am trying to find out about the Echotech pro 24 as I'm considering getting a Nest thermostat 3rd gen.
Many threads here have dealt with the wiring of various Vaillant boilers and I was wondering whether the wiring would be pretty generic between the models enough to use those threads...
Problem is there is only one choice now - it's the 3rd gen nest and that's it. The one that I think you are referring to is the Nest E thermostat and that appears to be discontinued. I will try to find out about my boiler first by opening a new thread as you suggest.
Ok Thanks Ian I'm going to have to look up the Ecotech pro 24 and see if I can find that out.
edit: got to say that if this is the case - the Nest "compatibility checker" is a piece of gross negligence. The questions it asks -
1) do you have a combi boiler
2) does it have a separate wired...
Ok I'll post a new one but so far I've not seen a nest with different channels advertised - just "Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Generation"
such as this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B016PW3JSG/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza
At the bottom this says "combi boilers, heat only boiler and can...
Hmm perhaps wrong of me to revive an old thread but here I am considering getting a Nest thermostat for my Vaillant EcoTec 24. I have a thermostat on the wall but would not wish to use that as the placement is just wrong and has led to so much erractic behaviour.
Anyway I've trawled quite a few...
Ok, although it's always seemed to require a particular directional wind. ie. it didn't always leak with rain. Anyway, wind is calm right now and got a mate coming round to hold the ladder, so I should be able to get a quick look in between showers. :)
If that were the case wouldn't water come down the inside of the ducting? I checked the inside and it was dry but it's coming down the outside of the pipe, so I assume it's the seal around the pipe that's the problem.
Can anyone tell me how to replace a weathering plate?
I'm assuming it is the reason why my bathroom ceiling extractor drips water when it rains hard. I went into the loft today as the problem was getting worse. Water is trickling down the outside of the pipe which goes directly up through the...
