My Part P course covered all ring main testing. Even the pre-part P introductory course I did covered some. It's difficult to start off with many years experience when you are required to complete two inspected installations before you can join an institute. I'm a bit old to become an apprentice.

I suppose it could be earth to kitchen extension sockets taken back to a dining room socket but the kitchen is only about 18 years old and why do that instead of earthing the sockets in the kitchen themselves ? Would the wire be wound though if for electrical use ?

Does anyone know how to change the lights on a 2004 Polo ? All I can see are small black plastic plugs embedded into the housing in the boot. Is it just a case of undoing the relevant one and the lights are attached ?

Just to cover off this topic I finally got the work done by a building contractor for £450 + £170 materials (including fitting a new toilet). They had to run the pipe over the roof mostly as apparently the steel joist holding the dormer room up was in the way underneath.
