    No hot water (CH works)

The motor was getting 240 but not moving so assume the motor is at fault. Will get a motor on order, easy swap. Microswitch itself is working.

    No hot water (CH works)

The (external) pump is connected directly to the boiler, it seems the timer is switching the power to the boiler entirely. It's a 2 port valve with microswitch (40003916-001). Okay to bridge this switch manually?

    No hot water (CH works)

Yes it seems to be the valve - It is receiving 240. I had thought the pump would have still started (so I could lock it open) so didn't check the valve sooner. If the valve needs to provide continuity - can it be bypassed and locked on? (We're no longer using CH) The head has a lock on it...

    No hot water (CH works)

Suddenly lost hot water (Boiler + Hot water tank) - a few days ago it wasn't as hot as we expected so I thought the thermostatic valve in the however this time check a normal tap and nothing. Turning CH on, boiler runs, pump runs, valve to CH opens, can feel the pipes get hot. Turning HW on...

    Shed electrics - wire sizing

It's closer to 25m, but have been assuming 50 at worst, its only £40 between them anyway.

    Shed electrics - wire sizing

About 50m at most, not sure on the route we're going to trench yet. The idea was to get someone else to do the run from the house to the CU and I would do the rest (or at least first fix, as that is what I want to get done now to get on with other jobs). It's the CU in the shed thats the need...

    Shed electrics - wire sizing

I want to put a ring of sockets in the shed, with a separate feed for lights and some radials for sockets in the ceiling (at height). I do have a few largish tools (thicknesser or table saw etc nothing too massive though) and the vac/dust extraction. I think that would be the most I would use...

Should I pay extra for the brushless 12v drill

"fact" and "perhaps" aren't really things that should be in the same sentence. The extra %'s quoted are way over stated. Most people see their new one being better as everyone is basing it on either their older model batteries or just an old battery, of course it seems better. To bring in a car...

Should I pay extra for the brushless 12v drill

That and there is extra electronics to fail inside, whereas brushes can be replaced. Though these days there is a lot of needless electronics in brushed kit and brushes are sometimes made awkward to replace. If you can see the brush ports, good. Manufacturers mostly sell both so they have a...

How to fix this gap in vinyl floor

Half a round pipe the width of the gap in the back of the pedestal?

Floor sloping by 40mm - should I try to level?

You still didn't say how long this 40mm drop is over? 40mm should be fine for screen if self levelling compounds can go up to that i'm sure... though 40mm is a lot of compound. If its flat(but not level) across it there wouldn't be a problem with flooring materials. Put a large spirit...

Kitchen is half quarry tiles / half concrete... what do we do?

I've seen self levelling put over quarry tiles before. Though if these are the thick ~5x5" ones you might want to check the value of them and remove them first.

Self levelling repair over painted floor

I finally got around to doing this, got myself a laser level, some levelling tripods and a spiked roller. Removed all the paint, took a little bit more of the high point off. Now nice and smooth, still got about a 5-8mm drop over the 7m+ which I'm okay with so long as its consistent (the 8ft...

    Shot/sand blasting options

I have been looking at them for loose flaky rust, though its never been a problem to clear this out with wire wheel and hand brushes in awkward parts. Would it work with paint/primer?

    Shot/sand blasting options

Never really thought about the flow being that low but turns out my little thing would be around 8cfm, the other one I used I would estimate around 15-18 from looking at pictures. Will be upgrading if the workshop is ever finished. For smaller parts yes, otherwise I'd be looking at blast...
