    Expanding foam will do the job perfectly well, if you can pack above the opening windows and add a couple of frame fixings all the better, just don't try fixing it without packing (wood or plastic packers) because the frame will just bend.

    The best weapon to use is a 'pad saw' - a serrated blade that fits into a stanley knife, you can the gently saw a perfect hole. :idea:

    you might be lucky and the hinge could be moved slightly further along the runner to reduce the gap, this problem is often due to the weight of the window and you might be able to simply push it back with a firm bit of pressure.

    New plaster will take about four or five coats of paint to get a good finish, I would do another 'mist coat' then a full coat before progressing to your chosen top coat , which will probably need a further two coats. have fun! :roll:

    It is the pipe that comes from the gas meter.. not the incoming feed to the meter, it goes under the concrete floor in my house and reappears in the kitchen, there is then a copper pipe from this to the gas hob. hope this makes sense?
