Afternoon
Our bedroom window has developed a fault at the handle. The button mechanism works and allows for release but the handle wont pass all the way up to release the catch, it sort of gets stuck on the last little bit of travel. Any thoughts on what could be causing this and remedy??
Bled all the rads of air today, working from furthest away to closest to the boiler downstairs and repeating the process again upstairs. All of the downstairs rads were fine, no air at all, however 2 of the upstairs ones closest to the boiler (boiler is downstairs) had a fair amount of air...
The building was actually a school which was later repurposed for housing. I think they managed to make 4 houses out of it in total which is why you can see further back the render colour changes when it switches to a different property
This is the offending corner from the outside. The house is rendered which then stops at a sort of "skirt" before the brickwork is exposed to floor level
As its 125 years old I dont think it has a cavity inbetween the brickwork
Note there is an air vent bottom left (why!???). This corner is where the black mould tends to grow. Could it be the vent is allowing colder air to come in, cool the wall in that area and increase condensation?
My real concern is the wet coming through the paint rather than this black mould...
Hi guys
This is actually a question on behalf of my mother who lives in a fairly old property, built in 1895.
She has an internal downstairs wall that seems to have damp water marks showing through the paint. She actually had a "damp specialist" in a couple of years ago as she was having a...
As a follow up to this, the new pump is very quiet. Its made a big difference in noise levels when the pump kicks in. The boiler seems much quieter as well
The only thing I have noticed is, it sounds like theres still air in the system as I get a kind of intermittent bubble rushing sound...
Update on this
After checking the pump I ended up calling a plumber in to have a look. He went round and did a similar check to the pump and diagnosed that the boiler was blocked due to sludge in the system and I needed a powerflush. Essentially the pump wasnt able to move the water through...
No I havent. I've always wondered what that upright was in all honesty! Can I just use a rad key to open it or do I need a different tool?. Is it some sort of catch-all pipe for air before it gets to the pump
Ive never touched these and to my mind no one else has either so they should be...
