UPVC Window Handle Stuck

Afternoon

Our bedroom window has developed a fault at the handle. The button mechanism works and allows for release but the handle wont pass all the way up to release the catch, it sort of gets stuck on the last little bit of travel. Any thoughts on what could be causing this and remedy??

As you can access both screws (one under the square cover) I would take the handle off and try a wide screwdriver in the mechanism as it may just be a fault on the handle. you can soon put it back if it does not help.
