Replacing a roomstat - have circuit diagrams

Hello, I need to replace an old Honeywell roomstat - pictured below: This is the circuit digram for it: At the moment, the only terminals used are numbered 2, 3 and 1. I can replace it with whatever's suitable. I'm suggecting a Honeywell T6360B - this is the circuit...

    home electrics

Hi Spark, No - I never provide a schedule. I recall it's in the regs, but I don't think it's very strictly adhered to by the trade in general. It's never come up at an NICEIC assesment either. Let's not shout about it though - I already spend more time than I'd like with a biro in my hand!

    home electrics

    1. I think he's being a bit mean spirited there - I'm NICEIC domestic installer and I never supply drawings. Just do him a plan showing sockets, switches, gas and water main bonds and consumer unit. Should only take ten mins. 2. 10mm to gas and water. 4mm or greater for bathroom bonding. You...

    Moving the main telephone point

Thanks you all for your posts - especically lectrician who seems to know his onions! I want to move it rather than extend from it because it's an eyesore in a really daft position.

    Moving the main telephone point

I'd like to re-position my main phone point. I've taken the cover off and there is just two wires (solid cable, about 1mm). Is it as easy as disconnecting them and extending them with some bell wire and a juntion box, or is it a BT only job? Cheers, Mark

    Extractor fan

How about using a fused spur? I recon you might be able to get two 6mm in your average 45a pullcord. So out of the switched side into a fused spur, then fuse it down to 3a for the fan? All assuming it's 6mm - which it probably isn't! What does everyone think?

What is so wrong with this picture!!

It's 6mm. The shower is 9.5kw. It might have been that the neutral wasn't tightened up properly, but I recon it was only a matter of time having used the 6mm.

When to use SWA and when not to use it?

Although I'd say you're fine just using the swa for the run from the cu to the isolator (assuming you can't see any circumstances where it is likely to be bashed about), I'd consider putting the t&e in plastic conduit. Propper job. Will also stop damage to the cable from the sun in the long run.

    External socket

That is uglier than my mother-in-law.

What is so wrong with this picture!!

OK... another one for you. Customer complained of an unpleasant smell when showering. The clue is in the picture.....

    Implications of having CU replaced?

If the installation hasn't been modified, the chances are a straight swap will be on the cards - though bonding in your bathroom will probably need doing. Like you say - very hard to advise without seeing it or, more importantly, testing it.

Can ring main be extended into attached garage?

Part P states that adding sockets to an existing ring is not notifiable "only if the exsisting circuit devise is suitable and provides protection for the modified circuit, and other relevant safety provisions are satisfactory". This answers the is it notifiable question. Though I should also...

Can ring main be extended into attached garage?

Adding socket outlets to an exisiting circuit is not notifiable - assuming the exisiting circuit is up to scratch (ie RCD protected, fused correctly etc).
