Worcester Greenstar Combi Boiler - need warmth on a cold day

Hi I have the same symptoms as everyone else in this old thread except for one thing. The pipe outside is not frozen. However, I also have the problem of a blocked bathroom sink upstairs. I tried to clear it but the flexi rod I have is not long and has now pushed the blockage along to the...

    Exterior secondary glazing

Hi I have done searches on Google and here for exterior secondary glazing and haven't found much at all. I have 2 sash windows that are deliberately sealed shut, one of which also has obscure film. Our other sash windows have all been refitted with double glazing, but I don't want to spend...

    Skirting board level horizontal cabling

How strange - because the council gave me a list of electricians who will.

    Skirting board level horizontal cabling

Hello Thanks for your replies and the advice about the OSG. This is exactly what I was looking for. And yes, you are right, I said I had planning permission, but it is just a notice of building control. Sorry And when i said I had shown I was competent actually what I did is discuss...

    Skirting board level horizontal cabling

Hello again @oharaf - it's a basic question because i was taught never to go horizontally and now I find that you can in some circumstances. New regs arrive so often I thought it best to ask. It's not basic, it's called being safe. @martinxxx - I did show I was competent and I am. And...

    Skirting board level horizontal cabling

THanks. I knew about not hiding behind a skirting, but the safe zone pic is very useful. The wall in question is a cavity external wall so i don't know if those rules apply and I don't think I can go that far into the brick (1/4 brick only) to put in metal trunking. The cable is for...

    Skirting board level horizontal cabling

Hello I have planning permission from the council to do my own electrical work in the kitchen diner. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way of taking a cable horizontally at skirting board type level. They told me I can go horizontally but only within the top 6 inches of the wall. I...

    Bi-fold door recommendations?

Thanks for all your replies. I understand what you mean about aluminium being cold, but the frame is very minimal which is why we are going for al rather than wood. Also, it has a single opening door that can then be part of the 3 leaves folding back. Recently we read an architect said you...

    Bi-fold door recommendations?

Hello We would like to install a bi-fold door from our kitchen to the garden and have been looking at aluminium framed doors. We have looked at various doors and have come down to Beauforts - they look very solid with good hinges - but the bottom track seems very exposed Easifold -...

    Sleeping platform

Thanks! This involves even less wood than I planned. I guess all slatted beds are just planks balancing on 2 thin beams. Thanks again

    Sleeping platform

Hello, I think I need some advice before I go ahead with this idea. I have a room that is 2.5m by 2.75m and 3.3m high, 2 external walls and 2 internal stud walls. I want to build a floating sleeping platform from one wall to the opposite across the 2.5m span. This would be from the internal...

    Refilling a combi - there's no water!

:-) Not sure I am up to replacing valves on boilers. I have got the system up and running again. I filled it up from the drain point, bled all the radiators and started it up. Works fine AND my new radiator valve doesn't leak either. Now that I understand the pipes going into the boiler...

    Refilling a combi - there's no water!

My mistake. There is water coming through fine - it comes from the other direction. The system still doesn't fill, but i have got some pressure by pushing water in through the drain point. Plumber is called though. I admit defeat. Oh well. Mark
