Wiring Sockets on an exposed stone wall

Can copper tube be used as exposed cable conduit? Just thinking it may look good!

How do you attach plaster board? Very long screws I assume?

    Super quilt insulation

The breathable wool is preferable for that very reason. Also it’s a holiday cottage so it will be empty for periods with no heat. Thanks for the advice

Can I use Isover roll instead of celotex?

    Super quilt insulation

Great thanks. No we’re not bound by regs as it’s just a refurb. We have checked with the council. However we want to do it as close to regs as poss. Do you mean a continuous 25mm of celotex?

Wiring Sockets on an exposed stone wall

It’s just the walls down stairs as I can do the uppers in the stud walls and conceal the wires.

    Super quilt insulation

The existing rafter ends come down quite low where they meet the walls as it is. If I increase the depth much more I’ll lose the headroom. If headroom wasn’t an issue what size timber would you suggest I add to take thicker insulation? Thanks

Wiring Sockets on an exposed stone wall

I’ve only ever done wiring in modern houses with trunking etc and plaster board over. We’re renovating an old stone wall cottage. The idea is to have the ground floor stone exposed for aesthetics and keeping the place naturally dry. I want to fit some electrical sockets to each wall but I’m not...

    Super quilt insulation

I’m doing a vaulted ceiling and leaving the A frames and purlins exposed. So 2m from walls to second purlin then horizontal 2m centre.

    Super quilt insulation

I was only considering it as I only have 3” rafters and using more conventional insulation (Isover) I will need to increase the depth of each rafter by 3” to enable 125mm to be fitted with a 1” airspace between the felt and insulation. I can only put in what fits.

Just seen they do breather quilt. May go for this to avoid condensation.

    Super quilt insulation

Has anyone used this in a stone wall property? I’m thinking of using it in our roof, under the rafters, then batten with plasterboard. This will leave plenty of ventilation between the felt and insulation plus a 1” gap between insulation and plasterboard. Sound about right? Thanks

    What insulation do I need?

I want to insulate the roof on our circa 1890’s cottage. It’s solid stone wall construction. The roof has been rebuilt using slate, breathable felt and new treated timber. The rafter depth is 75mm. I want to vault it. So 2m up, 2m horizontal and 2m back down. The flat part is easy with 300mm of...

insulating a stone walled cottage (moved)

Thanks for your reply. Firstly regarding BR’s we initially applied to the local planning department for clarification on what was required in terms of planning and building regs prior to purchasing the property. A visit was carried out by their planning officer who confirmed in writing that we...
