Gap between shower tray and wall

Hi all, I've fitted a new shower tray into a recess, however the walls are out of square and I have a 10mm gap at the widest point between the shower tray and the left-hand-side wall. What would be the best way to bring the wall out by about 5mm? Would 'skimming' with some tile adhesive be an...

    Fixed shower head fitting extension

Hi all, I'm in the process of fitting a new shower with a fixed shower head. I've mounted an elbow plate to receive the half inch thread of the shower head, but it will be a little short to pass through my backerboard and tiles. What fitting do I need to extend it? I'm guessing some sort of...

Wood burner / flue / water problem

A new chimney pot was installed when the stove was fitted, this was the original cowl that was fitted on the chimney pot: Cowl1 by mattrgee posted 4 Nov 2019 at 12:34 PM Due to the amount of rain coming in it was swapped to this one last week: Cowl2 by mattrgee posted 4 Nov 2019 at 12:34 PM...

Wood burner / flue / water problem

Yes, will get a picture. I think you're right to a point, however, in mind there shouldn't be any point where material can gather, whether it be: water, soot or tar. I think this is why they say all flue connections should have the socket/male end facing up so that any deposits are passing...

Wood burner / flue / water problem

I'm not sure there are any liners that could go through a 6" wide clay liner.

Wood burner / flue / water problem

Yes, definitely correct, there's no hatch. Either side of the clay liner is brickwork, there's no chimney to sweep, the only thing to sweep is the clay liner and that's done through the stove.

Wood burner / flue / water problem

Hi all, We had a woodburner fitted during the summer, all above board, certificates issued etc Not long afterwards, during heavy rain, water started leaking from the top of the flue where it meets the register plate There is a rope ‘seal’ around the top of the flue. I spoke to the installer who...

    Inhibitor

Hi all, Is this the correct inhibitor for a pressurised central heating system? It's fed by a Viessmann 100-W with 11 radiators. Thanks Fernox by mattrgee posted 9 Jun 2019 at 9:35 PM

Wood burning stove - hearth thickness

Hi, The wood burning stove we are looking at is certified for a 12mm hearth and will be installed in a fireplace recess. Consequently, is a full depth constructional hearth also required within and extending in front of the fireplace recess? Thanks.

    Enlarging fireplace, no lintel

    Enlarging fireplace, no lintel

Some progress made. Back to the original back wall of the fireplace now. However, I still need to increase the height up to the lintel. Maybe a silly question, but whilst the lintel supports the face of the wall, how is everyone behind supported? The pot chimney liner seem to be surrounded by...

    Enlarging fireplace, no lintel

Update. Lintel installed, thanks all However, having removed some of the bricks, I’m not too happy with what is behind. It looks like someone has previously hacked away at the cheeks of the fireplace, reducing the bricks by 30mm or so in places. They should be as wide as the first 3 courses...

    Clay Flue Liner

In principle, can a wood burning stove be connected directly to a clay chimney liner? Thanks.
