    Removing shellac from old furniture

Thanks. I have already bought some sugar soap so will try that first. If it doesn't, I'll give oxallic acid a try.

    Removing shellac from old furniture

Hi. I have used meths and wire wool to remove dirty, old shellac from a footstool with turned legs. It has left a black residue of dirt in the grain which is proving difficult to sand away (because of the awkward fiddly shape & the fact that it's ingrained). Is there an easier way to clean off...

    Diy disaster?

Good grief! That's awful. It could be the way the photo is taken but isn't that a cupboard directly above the loo? It looks like you'd bang your head when you sat down or stood up. Did you buy the house off dwarves?

    When to remove tile battens?

I've just finished tiling the bathroom and used panel pins to fix the battens. It seemed to be ideal & worked well but should I have not done that? Was I lucky? Maxine

    White marks on black grout

We've just tiled the bathroom floor with black porcelain tiles and grouted using Unibond (I think) anthracite (very dark grey / black) floor grout. After cleaning off the dry reside using tile cleaner, the grout lines have dried with patches of white which I am struggling to clean off (I've only...
