Replacement Windows in a timber clad property Q about fitting

And I went out again to check, There is a large gap where the new sill profile is slimmer top to bottom, there is a huge bead of silicone stopping any ventilation in the sections of cladding below the frame. I was right, it really does need ventilation: the-timber-cladding-handbook tells me it...

Replacement Windows in a timber clad property Q about fitting

Hi, I have had to take a bunch of pics before it got too dark and edit them to besmall enough to upload. This is guaranteed to hold the water against the cladding and stop it drying out between the rains. Ditto for the other side: Notice that there are small cracks in the timber, water that...

    Tiling onto a mdf/chipboard carcass?

To resurrect this one, the tiles have come away from the carcass. I used Mapei flexible poder adhesive. Any recommendations for the behind tile adhesive to use? Several of them have just pulled away, the adhesive bed is a full cover and still well stuck to the tiles that came free.

    Help understanding radiator measurements

If it is only a 10mm difference in the length of the radiator you can get extension nuts with one male and one female end. screwfix or toolstaion etc carry them. I found with one of thosr I did not need to mess with the existing piping.

Best Ferrules to use on copper radiator piping?

As title, changed the radiator valve for a thermostatic about 2 years ago, no problens till now. Seems to leak worst at night when it cools down more. Anyway, hacksawed a slot in it diagonally at used a scewdriver to cam it open. Brass ferrule now off, about to clean pipe. What are the votes...

Advice Sought About Cleaning Products and Methods

I have an indian stone patio, sandstone is not usually attacked by brick acid, but cement and limestone do get attacked. So start with an inconspicuous bit to get used to using it. Brick acid is hydrochloric acid at a medium strength, varies by supplier, you can usually buy it at almost any of...

    Indian Sandstone

It is where the mortar is not fully bonded to the sandstone, it has slumped/shrunk or been shaken away from contact with the underside of the stone, so moisture is getting in. If they had used 5 dabs it would be circular marks, possibly laid a little wet. Most likely will stay like that now.

Soft, rotten area in the slat of a bench - how to fix?

Other timbers you could use outdoors are "greenheart" and "Purple Jarrah", but you would need carbide tools to cut or trim them.

Make sure the trough has holes in th bottom, natural habitat for tulips originated in dry hot deserts, they used to have the bulb about 50cm down to avoid the worst of the heat and spend all the rest of the year bone dry.

Roof tiles to repair, one with a crack

Hi, Had a roof done a while ago. I worked out that the "flashings" on the ceramiic tiles have caused a crack in two of them some time after laying. I used some spray on stuff to buy some time, but it was rubbish and has gone hard. I am thinking about solar panels on the roof sometime, so that...
