    New Floorboards Creaking

Well I found the cause - it was really bugging me so I carefully took the floorboards up on the landing. I narrowed it down to joists being the culprit. Once the boards up, it was obvious that all the joists were pretty loose in the hangers. I drove some screws through the ends of them into the...

The one thing i thought was that in one part of the room near when boards are creaking there is an rsj running through the room which the joists are sitting one - unfortunately...

    Air Brick Problem

    Air Brick Problem

i've pulled the planter box out of the way so hopefully, that'll help. I'll have to see if i can get a pic of below the boards later on when i've finished work, but see below for the front. Its going to be tricky to put vent bricks in the internal wall where it steps down as the wall is about...

    Air Brick Problem

Hi, I have a house which was built in around 1820 and then converted to dwelling in around 1920. In the main living room, there is a suspended floor and the front of the house goes out on to the street. Today, i had to take some of the boards up to run some leads, but noticed the sub floor is...

    Woodchip on bare plasterboard

Yep - i guess that would save me the hassle of pulling it all out and deposing of it. I guess it would help insulate the room better!

    Woodchip on bare plasterboard

Hi, I'm renovating our loft room which was last decorated by the previous owner in the 80s. The whole room is plasterboard with painted woodchip wallpaper straight onto the plasterboard. Is there any way off getting it off? The room is 6m x 3m - i'm considering that i may have to remove all...
