    horny cable or SWA ?

Some very high quality comments there - many thanks. Who says everything is going on reddit and facebook? It seems only the trolls have gone. You would normally access it from the far side from the camera so that is perhaps another vote in favour of moving it. And very good point about it not...

    horny cable or SWA ?

So I'm planning to move my outdoor aircon unit which runs at 15a. It is currently wired by means of an SWA cable to an isolating switch and then ongoing rubber cable ho7rn-f to the appliance itself. I want to move the unit 1.5M to where that blue plastic and plant pots are currently. It is...

    Is this quote reasonable?

How do you know that without knowing anything about the job such as number of ways etc?

    Boiler Issues

Interesting thread. In general questions about boilers get told to go and justify a course cowboy's subscription to gassafe. Meanwhile, advice that could easily kill someone is happily ignored. Flipping the big lever on the CU does not mean you are safe to carry on without further testing.

    Boiling water tap. Vent pipe

Not in the clamp on fitting but just above the elbow in my photo above. Its also marked in the MIs. Not sure a NRV will be as reliable as a trap for keeping smells out? (if doing it the way specified in the MIs)

    Boiling water tap. Vent pipe

Its a candidate although I guess I'd want an elbow at the bottom pointing away from the house. However, if I did join into the existing drain, would I still need a trap given there is a 1-way valve there ?

    Boiling water tap. Vent pipe

Interesting so that's option 4. Core drill out another hole in the cavity wall and just have it drizzle out on to the patio? I think I'm leaning to option 2 but if this is mostly to satisfy the regs of a full blown 200 litre unvented cylinder it all seems a bit overkill. But of course, I'm not...

    Boiling water tap. Vent pipe

The kit turned up today and the only way I can fit that extension pipe without it fouling the basin is to have it cocked at about 10 degrees off vertical pressed into the back of the cupboard with the tundish raised up behind the basin so you won't see it dripping. As I see it I've 2 or 3...

What went wrong with the other 2 ?

    Boiling water tap. Vent pipe

Hmmm - just noticed there is a NRV so both backflow and smells might be handled by that.

    Boiling water tap. Vent pipe

Yes - I guess the problem with quooker is that their prices _start_ from a grand and go up to closer to 2k. If I read correctly it could be the primary purpose of the "long" vent pipe is to prevent anything in the waste pipe coming out of the tundish. That makes a lot of sense to me. The hose...

Who needs forums when you've got AI. Good find/generation thanks !

    Boiling water tap. Vent pipe

Interesting - thanks. In all cases, the tundish is connected through to the waste pipe. The issue is whether or not there is a "long" pipe between waste and tundish. I think....As you say less likely to enter the 40mm waste as steam if first it goes through a vent pipe. Also without a trap I'm...

    Boiling water tap. Vent pipe

Hmmm yes. But what is it behind the regs? I mean why is the taller vent pipe superior ?
